Who do we think will be our surprise late 5 star guys this year? We made a late push for Lawson in 2013 and last year we made a late push for Adoree and Clifton Garrett... Any predictions this year?
Seriously doubt any more big names pop up. Most of the firing has been done, and the coaches are zeroed in on those final few recruits
Watching some Iowa games from 2014. Derek Barnett has a chance to absolutely wreck their offensive game plan. Their primary run play from under center is the stretch, which relies on blocking the DE to set the edge. Can't wait to see him blow that play up over and over
They make a good argument, but their system has some egregious flaws. The biggest of which is the team weighting. For instance, in their system, the most valuable offer is one from South Carolina whereas one from Tennessee is the 57th most valuable offer.
Our recruiting classes last year and this year look really good by their methods...
What several are failing to see on this site is there ARE dads out there who are consumed with wanting the best for their kid.
There are dads who spend countless hours working with their kids on very minute aspects of their position. They spend unreal amounts of money in an attempt for the kid to fulfill their dream.
You could see the pride rolling down his face. Some call it controlling, I call it being a great dad.
This would be out of the blue and not sure if our coaches have even spoke to Christian Kirk, but I wonder if his close relationship with Bussey paired with that awful end of the recruiting week for A&M (had decommitments and three big time prospects shun them all on Friday), gives us a window of opportunity late.
I guess my question for you all is:was Friday just an anomaly for A&M or is their class going to fall apart late?
I posted this to the rank by offer forum:
Your system needs to be tweaked,at the very least, by position. Why should a defensive recruit get a bump in rankings for an offer from a team whos offense carries it (ie Texas A&M in the Manziel years, or Baylor/TCU this year)? Also, I believe an offer from someone like Sam Pittman at Arkansas for an O-lineman should hold a lot of weight even though the team as a whole is pretty mediocre. An offer to a mobile QB or a RB at Georgia Tech should hold more weight than offer for a WR to the same school. Make sense?
Just a thought about running back recruiting - are they basically recruiting two different positions?
Power backs that can pick up blitzes in the passing game (Lane, Hurd, Reid) and speedsters to use on jet sweeps, screens, and slot-receivers (Howard, Kamara, Bussey)?
How else do you recruit kids like Kamara and Bussey and convince them that they're not going to be sitting behind Hurd for the next 2 years?
