My buddies all say they think CBJ is a jerk and too uptight, but I expect that. Teams should be run as a dictatorship where the coaches still let the players be themselves(ex. circle of life,AJ and Curt's machine guns, & the scooter squad). Thats how they learn to bond. I'm sure Butch is a common enemy for the players to bond over because of his toughness, but I'm also sure they respect the s*** outta him on and off the field. Thats how it should be... Look at our penalties per game... thats a sign it works

Always a critic in the crowd.

:)
I just really thought that was a statement on the way Jalen played this year. Young man straight trucked some folks and it's only gonna get better. And yes the rest of POA's little "video" was garbage! I went to three games and didn't make any of the highlight footage! This some bullspit right here! :p

I hated my Drill Sergeants and my OCS instructors with a passion but they forced us to be a team and we had to get good or go home.

POA. I might have missed it but I didn't see the scene from the UGA game when the UGA DB was showing blitz and Hurd friggin waved him to bring it. That would've been a great way to end it. Bring it on 2015!

I completely forgot about that. Kind of hard to notice when watching the game footage.

No sweat man. The video really pumped me up for the future! Thanks for spending your time and energy on all of the videos!

Butch is a jerk and too uptight, yet all of these recruits are falling over themselves wanting to play for him and his former players have nothing but good things to say?

OK then.

I doubt Saban would think Butch is too hard on the players. Watch that feature one of the networks (ESPN?) did on Saban last year. Saban talked about how demanding his father was as a coach and was ripping into Eddie Jackson and some of the other freshmen during practice. There's a reason Saban gets results.

Soft players don't win championships. Butch wants to win championships, not a popularity contest.

has anybody heard that basilio said current and former players are now voming out and saying that butch is too hard on the players. Apparently he also said wharton and malone arent happy either. Easytd, have you heard this?

That's typcial bull**** from Basilio.

Butch is very hard and demanding with the players during practice, that is true. But he is not out there dog cussing players and talking about their mothers or anything like that. When he says things like "Oops, you're not Eric, you're Evan. I wish you were Eric Berry", it's more like a funny barb he takes at the player. The majority of the players put their heads down and smile or snicker when this happens. It makes most of them work harder so that they don't get singled out on the megaphone.

Yes he cusses, just like 99% of the rest of the football coaches that are above middle school level. The stuff that's not being reported is that behind closed doors and away from the field, CBJ the ultimate player's coach. He is very upbeat and encouraging to those kids.

Go watch the video from the day he was hired and he met the players for the very first time. He said something along the lines of "I'm gonna coach you hard and I'm gonna get everything out of you that I can. But I'm gonna love you guys too." That's exactly what he does.

Exactly. It's just Basilio fishing for ratings and clicks as usual.

Everyone wants to talk about Hendrix, Helm and Scott but they fail to mention the countless other players that have showed a ton of improvement and really "bought in" to what Butch is selling.

Look at the report about Josh Malone from the other day. He's been in the doghouse for a little while and maybe wasn't giving his best effort. Did he pout and take his ball home because big meanie Butch was picking on him with the megaphone? No, he worked harder and something has finally clicked because he's giving more effort and looking better in practice than he has all year. He could've easily *****ed, pissed and moaned about not starting like Hendrix did but he kept his mouth shut, kept working and now he's going to be starting in the bowl game.

Hello Basilio, that's COACHING you numbskull.

sounds good easy thanks for the response. I hope he's a hard ass in my opinion he's not doing anything but helping those guys out for the long run and in life in general

Complete bs, people sure have taken recent events and run with it. Kirkland must like getting abused then huh? I bet he can't wait to get here and get ripped and new one. SMH.

Agree! Complete BS to you and me but not to the "Perception is Reality" crowd.

Apparently, developing a thick skin is a little tougher for some than others.

Nick Saban once stepped over a guy who was injured during practice...allegedly. You think guys b*tch and moan about the way he treats them? Sure...but you don't hear about it because ingrained in the culture--plus they friggin win, all the damn time.

If Butch starts winning, guys won't necessarily stop whining but you'll hear about it less and less. Winning cures all ills for a football team.

You don't need to defend coach jones. Room had to be made for this class to make numbers work. Butch says you're either a fountain or a drain. I'm fine with getting rid of those that don't give their all.

I was pretty bummed about losing Hendrix and Helm, but the more I read about what they've said and why they left, the more I realize that they just weren't up to the challenge they took on. They weren't Tennessee Tough. I'm glad Malone worked through it. Maybe he'll be an inspiration to others who're having to dig deep.

Butch was really bragging on Malone at his press conference too.

What has Helm said. I haven't seen any quotes from him?

Butch also goes out on the field to check on his players when they get hurt. I noticed one this year when Butch was in an officials ear and a player had gone down and was already being helped to the sideline and Butch still went out and walked back to the sideline and talking to the player on the way back. He cares.

That was no more a defense for Jones than it was an indictment. It was aimed towards the players who cite the coaches not being very nice towards the players, as reasons for leaving, not necessarily Jones.

No one especially likes be yelled and cussed at but, it's apart of football at this level. Stripling was quoted as saying he thought Hendrix had more athleticism and/or potential than Barnett at the beginning of camp and did and said everything to him in order to make him better...or see if he'd break. From the outside looking in, it appears the latter happened.

I've noticed that too. I like that a lot.
