Iowa's defense is slow as hell. Sure the statistics for them look OK but go look at who they have played.

northern iowa
Ball state
Illinois
Purdue
Northwestern
Iowa state
Pitt
Minnesota is solid but they throw For about 100 yards a game lol
I mean you gotta take some of their ranking with a grain of salt. Go watch the tape. They are disciplined but hey struggle with athletic teams and any type of speed on the edges.
Vanderbilt struggled containing Temple, UMass, and Charleston Southern.

Prayers for successful surgery and recovery for Jason Croom. Don't want him rushed back though - want him strong and healthy so he can dominate. He'll need some good TLC and eats from his momma first. He really took a big step forward the second half of the season.

Definitely prayers for Jason, MzTerry and the entire fam. I'm sure he'll go through surgery just fine and will work hard during his rehab and come back better than ever.

Croomster definitely took big steps this season and while I was hoping to see a big performance from him during the bowl game, I'm sure we will see even bigger and better things from him next season. We wouldn't be bowling without his big catch against South Carolina. I have a feeling he will be a complete monster next year and feel sorry for the any db getting in his way.

http://www.volnation.com/forum/tennessee-vols-football/232392-offensive-progress-2014-a.html

I posted this thread in the FF to try and talk some sense into the Nega-Vols over there. Wish me luck.

the real story is that there was any improvement at all seeing that we replaced the entire offensive line.... and with all the injuries. had we stayed the same in stats i'd have been impressed.

just hard because tn fans are impatient to be good again, nevermind steady improvement and small victories. they're ready for exponential improvement and being nationally relevant again.

Jakob and Bynum are going to have a time in fall camp trying to keep from getting beaten by Bryant for the mike spot.

Kid is already one of the hardest hitters on the team or so I've heard.

You could see that coming just by taking one look at his highlight tape. He killed people in high school.

Yeah, he just came in a little out of shape and had some trouble with the metal aspect at first.

There's no question that he easily has the most potential out of all the middle linebackers.

My main question for the Iowa game is which Dobbs shows up. It would be nice to see Dobbs bounce back and close strong. Watching him against Vandy was akin to watching Driskel.

former top247 defensive end prospect dewayne hendrix’s departure from tennessee after only one semester was an unfortunate situation, vols defensive line coach steve stripling told govols247 on tuesday.

Stripling loved hendrix’s ability, though, saying earlier this season that hendrix was arguably a better pure athlete than fellow vols true freshman derek barnett, who has been on several all-sec and freshman all-america teams after setting ut freshman records with 20.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks this season.

With barnett and all-sec junior curt maggitt (11 sacks this season) serving as the primary bookends and sophomores corey vereen and latroy lewis getting most of the reserve reps, hendrix frustratingly spent most of his time on the bench and told coaches he wanted a fresh start somewhere else next season.

Stripling said everyone definitely wanted hendrix to stay, but the player had other ideas.

“it is frustrating,” stripling said. “i appreciate what he did for us, and i wish him the best, but is frustrating. I think, you know, perseverance is a word that’s easy to say and hard to do sometimes. That’s what it’s all about.”

The whole offense was horrid. Driskell has never looked remotely like Dobbs when Dobbs plays up to his potential.

I don't think he called him a pansy but rather said Hendrix wanted it now and didn't have the patience to realize he needed more polish. I know coaches are frustrated with the Hendrix deal and have heard that the situation with Hendrix involved him getting some really bad advice.
