'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Farrell saying rumbling of LSU doesn't mean he thinks they go there... Just saying he hears they are in it which we all knew that. He is just repeating what VQ staff and Woody have told him

TN and distance wins out

It is still frustrating having Hendrix leave. I feel like he would have been good with some experience. I hope Sawyers doesn't leave too...

Hendrix hasn't officially left, and Sawyers by all accounts is back with the team. GFW stated that he has been sick.

Edit:Hendrix, Scott, & Helm all gone per Butch Jones

How serious is the package deal with Kyle and Ugo Amadi? Curious because Amadi eliminated Ole Miss yesterday.

Thanks for the info :hi:

I think if Phillips commits to it, we'll probably get ugo as well. Some think the numbers work out to hurt us with martin. I think these two committing actually help us with him.

Paul is saying that the Jackson de-commit isn't due to Phillips and they are mutually exclusive.

But he did say the visit went very well.

nice Nugget from Paul

Phillips - From everyone I've talked to Tennessee had a great weekend with him and his mother. This is really coming down to Tennessee and LSU. Tennessee has to keep grinding here. I think he's very comfortable with Tennessee and his mother seems to be growing even more comfortable. I think it's trending well for Tennessee but Phillips hasn't made a decision so there's still a long ways to go.

Also, Phillips is announcing at the Army AA game

This is very interesting to me, considering that Kirkland just moved his announcement up from that game to today. Any chance there's a connection with the 2 events?

galilee info...sounds gooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Kyle and his mom very truly impressed. If I had to decide today I would say Vols. The staff presented Kyle as of today and Kyle at the end of four years. They had charts concerning his body changes and his academic progress. The indicated that he and Barnett could have a private meeting 4 to 5 times per game in the opponents backfield each game..LOL. The mid-state players were working him very hard..As for most visits we must let the newness wear off. His mom was very, very impressed. LSU will not give up and OM is still trying to get back in the race. Coach Chavis is working the mom hard and he his resume for producing DL talent is a factor. This is a good kid making a hard decision. The distance and his moms tight professions schedule as AD is truly in Vols favor. She can attend a day game at TSU and get to Knoxville for a night game easier than LSU.

I think a 247 guy reported that is more a matter of Kirkland knowing where he wanted to be after the official visit to Texas. Said the TX visit was alright but not enough to overcome the momentum TN had.

If Miles gets these 2 and snags williams from Fr Ryan next year he will have officially become and even bigger PIA.

Just added my 247Sports Crystal Ball forecast for Tennessee regarding Nashville (Tenn.) Hillsboro Top247 defensive end Kyle Phillips, who announced Monday that he'll make his college decision at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan 3.

In talking to a source with knowledge of the situation, Phillips had a great visit to Knoxville this past weekend.

The Vols went into Phillips official visit already the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite.

How about this defensive line Tennessee may sign in 2015!

Two five-stars in the boat already in defensive tackles Kahlil McKenzie and Shy Tuttle. On the edge, Phillips would join two other four-star defensive ends in Darrell Taylor and Andrew Butcher along with another talent in Marques Ford. Another four-star committed up front is defensive tackle Quay Picou, as Tennessee plans on dominating defensively on the line of scrimmage for many years to come.

- 247 (Wiltfong)

Wiltfong is typically a pretty connected guy. He's usually money with recruits from the Midwest, but this is good news nonetheless.
