I don't see Jones leaving right now, however when it comes to loyalty and love for the school, UT threw that out the window forever when they stuck it to Fulmer.
Fulmer with Cutcliff won 77% of the time.
Fulmer w/o Cutcliff won 61% of the time.
We all know which one got the 6 million exit money and has a lot of free time. The other guy went on to win Coach of the Year honors at a basketball school.
Harbaugh has so no also. Cowherd said a new name will show up by the wknd that Michigan fans will be very happy about. Said he has spoken to several agents and trusts his sources. Says the guy is still coaching so I'm guessing its a Coach with a game on Sat..
Tennessee's winning percentage without Fulmer: 46% and now BEGGING for a bowl game.
Without meaning since in this circumstance.

Cowherd said on his show a few minutes ago that Michigan had their hire, but it wouldn't be announced until this weekend. Said Michigan fans would like the hire. Maybe Pinkel?
It is hard to express how joyful I would be if Butch got on that MIchigan plane. I know I am in the extreme minority here on that. I believe with all my heart that David Cutcliffe could come in here next year and win 10 games.
You should consider that the biggest reason Cutcliffe got fired by Ole Miss is because he wasn't much of a recruiter. Duke is the perfect spot for him because recruiting is sort of beside the point.
Those stats have nothing to do with Fulmer. It has to do with an athletic director who was making the next two hires. But it was Fulmer who put the decision process in Hamilton's hand.

UT didn't "stick it to Fulmer". Fulmer failed to see that the game had passed him by. He could have adjusted with the game. He could have retired with grace. Instead, he made UT push him out while saying "We've won a lot of games around here doing what we're doing... and we ain't changing now".
Newsflash. When your boss(es) say you aren't performing the way they expect... your answer can't be "I ain't changing".
Even then Fulmer got a fair shot after 2005 to turn things around. Instead, it got worse. His recruiting failures during that period are EXACTLY what originally put UT's roster in a talent crisis.
Loyalty is a two way street. At the end of his tenure, Fulmer had become so full of himself that he believed loyalty to Phil Fulmer WAS loyalty to UT. He was wrong.
Those stats have EVERYTHING to do with Fulmer. His recruiting classes from 2007 to 2009 were near complete busts. Go back and look at them... he left the roster in a critical state... then Kiffin happened.... then Dooley. Those guys failed to pull the program out of the abyss... but they didn't put it there in the first place. Fulmer did that.
I saw that on a facebook article earlier. He claimed to "know" who it was and said that it wasn't anyone who had been talked about even on chatboards.
Of the people not being talked about... Pinkel would make some sense but his age could be an issue. He's 62 though he seems younger. Who else who is currently coaching has Michigan ties but has not been talked about?

Listening to Reed Caringer from RTI on 101.3 (Cleveland). Says Michigan did reach out to Butch in October. Also said that Butch has reached back out to them. He was unsure of when that occurred (possibly immediately after or in November). Him and radio host have both heard from multiple sources that Michigan is his dream job and that this MIGHT be the one and only college job he would consider leaving Tennessee for.
Several things. Reed believes that odds are Butch stays at Tennessee and leverages this into a raise. But he brings up an interesting point that there were many times in post game interviews that you could see the pressure getting to Butch and him getting defensive. He thinks the one thing that could cause him to consider UM would be it is much easier to to win there combined with the fact that is where he is from.
In other words, he will most likely be back, but the folks who believe there is no chance this happens are fooling themselves.
Coaching is a brutal business and it is easy to see why he would consider other options. VN is a prime example of how many are not willing to endure the process necessary to return UT to a football power. At some point, I'm sure it would seem to be a futile effort when all is going as planned and you are already hearing discontent in the background.
I seriously doubt Michigan already has a hire and is waiting to announce this weekend. Every Michigan insider I follow is saying it will be a few weeks before a hire is made. They are taking their time.
