I wouldn't want us to be looking for a new coach this year, even with a better team (on paper). Lots of high profile teams looking for coaches and our money situation isn't as good as some others yet.
I would not want it to happen either Most know I was big time CBJ and against Charlie Strong before the hire was even made. That said, like with Charlie Strong, I would not over pay just to keep/get a guy. CBJ left Cinci making around 1.5 million I believe. Here it is just 2 years later and IMO he is worth 3.25 to Tennessee today. He wants more than that, I say Hart may need to take a look around.
Just hope if that happens this isn't the coaching candidate landscape Hart sees.

I don't think it would be bad. Most view UT on a major upswing. The roster is very strong headed into next year and most of the starters are returning. CBJ showed that a guy could come in without an SEC background and recruit very well to TN(I've always said UT recruits itself if the guy running the show puts in the work). UT is paying 3 million now. Obviously in the scenario CBJ took another job, UT would have the added buyout money. IMO they would be shopping in the 4 million range. I think it would be an attractive job now. Most coaches would see it CBJ deciding to go home and not a negative on UT. I think there would be a lot of interest.
He already said he wasn't taking the job. Just because some website made him the 3rd favorite doesn't mean he is looking to peace out all the sudden.
First Jive Dude: Shiiiiit, maaaaan. That honky muf' be messin' mah old lady... got to be runnin' cold upside down his head, you know?

That's not why I brought this topic up. Because if some website. I'll leave it at that
This is true. I'll be as nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs if Butch still hasn't signed an extension after Harbaugh and Miles turns down Michigan.
Butch may or may not be the long term answer here but we cannot go through ANOTHER coaching change right now.
My guess is CBJ won't bolt. I also think a solid raise is justified.
I'm in the minority I'm sure, but I actually thought the Vandy win was a sign of tangible progress for our program, which is a credit to CBJ. That was basically a replay of the type of game we kept losing each year (UK 2011, Mizzou 2012, Vandy 2013) against inferior opponents that was among the things that was holding us back. I was afraid the whole game that the team was going to collapse again, but they fought through adversity and won. I saw it as getting over another mental and emotional hump of sorts for the program. Every team has an off week, and this time it didn't kill us. Championship teams and programs win those types of games.
I also think we are primed to explode back on the national scene next year. Losing CBJ would set us back yet again...
