Michigan Contacted CBJ per FootballScoop (merged)

What was YOUR prediction?...be honest.

At the beginning of the season, I said that I honestly couldn't make a prediction. Anything from 4-8 to 7-5 wouldn't have surprised me given what Butch did and how we played in 2013. There were too many variables. I did say that 7-5 would be a successful season.

Unfortunately, the answer is Butch Jones.

I'm glad your opinion doesn't carry much weight with the hiring and firing around here. If you don't think CBJ is not getting the VOLS back on track, your not qualified to rate coaches. Sure you can post your opinions, and I say that loosely(usually it's just a barb here and there saying this sux or that sux), but you are in about the bottom 20% in your thinking on whether CBJ is doing a good job. That's with 19% being fans of other teams that want to just stir the pot.

Btw, according to a link on here Butch was contacted by Michigan and he turned it down. I have went to a couple sites myself and seen him on their list. So even your bashing is fact deprived.

That's revisionist history. He was USC's 7th choice and not even on the radar as a possibility to UT fans that he would bolt when it happened. I would say CBJ might be 2nd or 3rd on UM's realistic candidate list (the Harbaughs and Miles don't count), so it's not insane.

:good!::thumbsup::salute::clap:

I would venture to guess that many of the posters on Vol Nation have never manged even a lemonade stand. And, if they ever managed any business, it would would be a disaster.

It is okay to expect positive results. But when the results you demand aren't reasonable, they are delusional. I get so tired of hearing "this is Tennessee, anything but a championship is a bust.

You are da$& straight this is Tennessee, and the state of this program over the last five years is shat. It takes time to rebuild a roster in college football. You can't poach your competitors for talent, can't hire free agents, etc. you can only add around 25 new employees per year, but they come in with NO experience. So, you have to take time to train them. It takes time.

I don't know if Butch will ultimately win big here or not. All I know is he finally has it trending in the right direction, and has earned the right to carry on. I also know that another, coaching change would,be very detrimental to the program.

Expect Nebraska to show interest and also Florida. As more coaches move around this off season, bUTch will be called more often.
For instance, for instructional purposes, let's imagine that Freeze leaves Ole Piss. Well, Ole Piss might want to talk to bUTch, etc. etc.
Get your point but Freeze just reupped for 4 years at 4 mil per with the black bears. Florida came calling and they paid to keep him.

Does that even matter. I guess someone can't exaggerate by a game or two. That line was used to say screw all of yall that said we would not go to a bowl game,IMO.

That's irrelevant...he still hasn't paid for "Best coaching staff in America" and now he hauls off and says this? He's on probation for using generic coach speak also...it's simple...Our HC can't publicly speak until he wins 10 games! Then and only then do we loosen the reins. :aggressive:

So many posters on here are such TURDS! I promise you that a back to back big east champ in three years and the guy who scouted a basketball player who turned into the number one draft pick last year wouldn't be more than Michigans second call. The guy grew up there! Why wouldn't they want him? He took a non relevant football program and lit it on fire! We have been on sportscenter plenty this season (in good ways), have back to back top 5 recruiting classes, and are progressing in the win column every season.

For anyone who is seriously doubting his ability to win championships is an idiot for not concerning themselves with how many he will win here. He has already seen the nasty underbelly, that is the negavols, and he isn't leaving! You shouldn't be thanking whatever creator you praise that he didn't take a page from cuonzo... Which was ran off because of lack of support IMO. He saw how quickly we turned on our class act BCS ring owning Fulmer. If he wasn't absolutely confident and practically wanking himself to how well things are going he would have taken that job. IMO the only reason he didn't is because things are going as planned.

He has gotten through the toughest part of his tenure here and he knows that. He also knows that when his roster starts looking like some of the wests, he will have set himself up to be LOADED. As a fan base we are lucky to have such generous and loyal boosters and he is a fan of that I promise. The guy is ambitious. He wants championships. It makes sense for him to stay after watching the lame train get derailed. If he didn't think he could do it... he would know it by now and be heading for safer pastures.

Hold your tongue when talking about the ole ball coach

Hold your tongue when talking badly about the ole ball coach!

If it happens make Quarles and Rankin Co-Head Coaches and just import Maryville's and Alcoa's senior classes. With the recruits we already have it puts us ahead of everybody but bama.

Since we are passing imaginary judgements I'll throw one out there too. You are banned from wearing orange, attending any games, or reveling in any future success. You can take your fair weather crap somewhere else. Why plant a crop without knowing if it will be fruitious? You should be ashamed of yourself for not supporting this program and those associated with it. I bet you're the kind of guy who doesn't dare wear orange after a loss.
