Guys, guys, it was a joke, my God I can just see it now. My being lynched for starting a joke that started the whole VN crying.

I was not crying about it... I was just carrying the Joke a step further.... Quit being so defensive.... I think a lot of people are panicking on this board over nothing...It has been fun to watch... both young and old are talking about the program is a sinking ship, CFP lost heart, we cannot recruit with TT, Kippy is coming here in a Coffin, Norm Chow would move, We are going to hire Clausen as OC, Adkins, no spread Offense, No TP, the list just goes on and on.... sheer Panic and Chaos from a fan's perspective.... Chicken Little the Sky is Falling.... We all have opinions some of us Joke more than others.... VN needs to get a grip on this before we really panic... It is not like MH or CPF or the Donors don't have a plan... they are just waiting on when to break it to us and want to know the reaction before they do....

Wow. I must be slipping in this joke thing, you sir are taking me much too seriously. I'll try to keep my comments more succinct and the comedy more obvious for you.

please take the 5 wide and let it fly approach... I would not want to squelch your opinion or jokes....I as all readers welcome your opinion....I did not mean to offend you or put you on the defense.... all of this right now is like a grain of salt.....Read this thread and you will understand from the comments made by the board creator....I did not mean to offend you I did not know it was a joke at first but caught on pretty quick... I thought D. dickey was the answer for a long time before I researched it....unfortunately he is not... I am sure we will get the right guy but the fun part is watching us get there...... some people are absolute in the desires so it is sometimes hard to tell who is and who is not..

I see no reason why tt shouldn't be the new OC. He is nothing like Sanders, so I see no comparrison. He is a firery coach who knows how to teach technique, and assignment. Look at how good of a job he did with the running backs when he first arrived here(i.e. two 1,000 yrd rushers). Not to mention the drastic inprovments to an underachiving receiving corps last season, and a group of almost no namers this year. I think it is a risk because he has never had this resposibility before, but he has done nothing to show that he can't handle it either. As for Systems. I played QB, and I coached football at the age of 22 as a passing game coordinator and wr's coach, so I know a little about the game, and it's history. Every system in the game evolved from something when the game began...even the spread option. It doesn't matter what you runthe key is getting your players to understand what to do and how to do it. we don't have the personel to change to a spread option game like everyone wants. I don't see Crompton running a 4.5 by next season. Yes he can scramble around and make plays but lets be honest.

I am not offended nor on the defense, I am just sorry I failed so miserably in the attempt. You, I and everyone should not squelch any opinion, however everyone does not share your view, unfortunately. I just hope the being there is more fun than the getting there.

"5 wide & let it fly", have you considered the OC position?

I'm not saying I'm a know all god, but I do have some experience, and knowledge about the game. Ohh let me guess you played in high school right...sorry I guess you do know more. HAAA

I'm not saying he's a lock. There are plenty of others who could be a better fit. I just like the idea of hiring within because the plyers would already be comfortable with his approach to things.

Gerald Jones?

He is faster than Brennan. His arm is as strong. He needs to develop mental side and accuracy.

I think his arm is stronger, it's closser to cutler's arm. He's not quite Jamarcus Russell arm though. The Gerald Jones Idea would work, but without Coker we don't have the back to fit the offense. Foster is great between the tackles but on that read play he'd be toast. If we ran it like Florida we would be better off as much as I hate to say it. When Crompton played against LSU last season we ran the read, but it never worked right. I think he would be more of a Cutler being able to scramble better, with that arm. Put him in the gun and let him throw, and roll him out let him make plays that his style he's fiesty.

Crompton and Foster are no worse a fit for the spead option than Chris Leak and DeShawn Wynn. Those guys won a national championship.

Didn't have to just thought it would add a little credability. Guess not, never mind that.

I wasn't criticizing you. I was criticizing him. I thought your post was perfectly reasonable, and I thought he was being a bit arrogant and obnoxious. Sorry if you misinterpreted, or if I wasn't clear enough.

Sorry for the delay, had to take wife to Dr. I was saying some, unlike yourself, on this board have no tolerance for opinions that are not in accord with their own. They chastise, name-call and insult at the drop of a hat. No self control, which I consider a most important trait to have. But thats just my opinion, I probably expect too much of a discussion board membership. I'm sure some enjoy arguing just for the sake of it, and that is their appeal of being on this site. I don't expect agreement with my opinions, nor even respect for one that proves to not deserve it. But all are due the right to give an opinion, as off the mark as it may be.

With Trooper, you must ask yourself just one thing.

Is he the best offensive coordinator CPF could possibly hire?

If your answer is yes then, while I disagree, I respect that line of thinking. But if your answer is he's the best because(insert reason, ie.. we need his recruiting..) then this I do not respect. It is wrongheaded thinking of the highest order.

If your answer is no, then let the interview process begin, and let's go make the right hire.

This is too important an opportunity to watch be frittered away.

I totally agree. I look at it this way:

If we hire TT as OC because we don't want to lose him otherwise, then we have to ask ourselves if it could cost us more by making him the OC rather than letting it play out by interviewing others...

Look, If I was Fulmer, I would steal Garner back from GA and then make a move like Tupperville and get me one of those sexy spread OCs. But since Fulmer is not going to do that and is going to continue to play TN football, He might as well at least get someone who can convince the recruits that they can at least play in the NFL if they come to TN. There is nothing Fulmer can do now to attract top recruits to TN without Taylor short of wholesale change. The closest he could come is with Kippy Brown, but Brown is gonna want to sit on the porch and rock.I doubt he will be chasing these kids all over the country.
Tennessee has had great recruiting classes long before Trooper Taylor was hired....and they will continue to have them....What happened to the recruiting class this year if he's so great?

This past year was a good recruiting year, the one coming up, who knows with the coaching changes.
