'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

I realize this probably happens a lot, but if true, DR is slime in my book. You don't do that to the instate school that's shown you the most love and to the fans who have championed your name for this long.

I said it the day he committed to Ole Miss. The best thing the UT staff could have done was STOP recruiting him and turn that focus elsewhere. Much easier to sell a kid (Allen/Sweet) committed elsewhere on flipping to UT if they knew DR was no longer in play. I think the coaches made a mistake continuing to make Richmond a priority.

If we get Pat Allen I could care less if Drew Richmond wastes away at Ole Miss.

I'm almost to this point as well. I'm a fan of Richmond's game but with each passing day it seems less and less likely that we flip him. And if there's any truth to the rumor that he was recruiting for Ole Miss while on a visit here, well that's just bull**** on his part.

Richmond seems like he likes to play games. With the way he's tweeting a bunch of Tennessee stuff on Twitter then the next day tweeting a bunch of Ole Miss stuff the next.

Maybe he's been stringing along CBJ and co, making them think a flip is very possible. Who knows.

I would imagine that Butch would not be very pleased if he found out that Richmond really was recruiting for Missisippi on a visit here.

To be fair, you're assuming someone like Allen is scared off by Richmond. Seems to me that Butch has exhausted every effort on flipping Richmond, while also heavily recruiting Allen.

Allen is obviously listening to Tennessee and is certainly in play for us. I think Butch did the right thing. He's made a play for two elite offensive lineman, increasing his opportunity to land one of the two.

All I'm saying is as a recruit who is committed to another school and CBJ calling me up telling me how bad he wants me to flip to Tennessee, then seeing the twitter pics posted all over showing CBJ at Richmond's game while he is an Ole Miss commit and not at mine.....well, yeah. Maybe it's something small, but it would matter to me.

Pretty easy to explain though. He visited Richmond's game in Memphis because Tennessee played in Oxford the next night.

Hard to get up to Maryland to do the same.

Barton Simmons made a comment yesterday that after watching Jack Jones again Friday he still firmly believes Jack is the best olineman in state without question. 247 already had bumped Jones ahead of Richmond earlier in Sr season.

He also thinks Givens is better prospect than Richmond.

He doesn't appear to be very high on Richmond in terms of Elite recruit like others

I hope he stays at tackle but I've heard some chatter that he may be a guard.

IMO it depends on how he looks when he gets on campus. In his current system he doesn't have to do much pass blocking at all. My guess is they start him out at tackle and see if he's got the feet and hands to play tackle. If he's a little slow-footed, they'll move him to guard.

Personally I think he's get the athleticism to thrive at tackle. The way he gets out in front of WR screens is impressive.

He has to put a lot of weight on. He's 270 right now. Think it was Fortenberry who said he needs to significantly improve his upper body size and strength. Sounds like he could really use a redshirt year like most every freshman OL needs.

I agree. A redshirt year would benefit him.

Newsome said he tried to recruit him. I don't recall what was said.

They were both here for the Alabama game and that was the rumor. Fwiw, Richmond is taking an OV to Ohio State this weekend, so it looks like he has moved on to teasing someone else - good!

Does anyone else hate seeing this kid constantly bumped near the top? He's a Rebel and I don't see that changing. Let's move on, I'd be perfectly ok w Butch Stones telling him to get ef you cee kay'ed.

Any coach that runs the spread attack is dangerous with right qb...look at ut now with Dobbs....look at Meyer with tebow.....a good dual threat qb makes these guys offense go. Without it, they r just average. Florida no longer bothers me BC ut has Butch!!!

Chip Kelly seems to be doing alright without a dual threat QB in the NFL for the Eagles right now. If he can run his offense in the NFL without a dual threat QB I'm pretty sure he could do it in college as well. The guy is just a heck of an offensive coach and play caller. He can change his offense to fit his QB and be just as effective. Heck he is even making butt fumble look good.
