Say what you will, but I don't see Spurrier as a "jerkoff". He's a great coach and always has been. He might have a dry sense of humor but he certainly doesn't bull**** anyone. He shoots straight and tells it like it is. One of my favorite quotes of his was in regards to running up the score. "It's their job to stop us". Neyland used to have some one-liners like that too but no one around here calls him a jerkoff. Now, Muschamp, Meyer, and Zook all make me want to punch them in the face. Especially Muschamp. I probably hate him more than any coach in college football.

More than Meyer, Kiffin, & Saban? Wow.

I just kind of pity Muschamp. He was in over his head & trying to do the best he could. It was obvious to me in his first PC when he took the job.

Muschamp was an angry dude so I don't feel to bad for him. If he lands at USC with Spurrier it will be the best thing to happen for him and not good for us. He is a great defensive mind.

I've been telling my co-workers this and they think I'm crazy.

I think there's 2 options for Spurrier:
A.) Retire and work on golf game.
B.) Don't retire, fire Lorenzo Ward, hire Muschump.

If he succeeds, he'll stay another 3-4 years, IMO because he can go out as a true winner at SCjr. If he fails, then he fails and it's just "his time" to move on and he goes to work on the golf game.

It all comes full circle back to golf. :)

I, also, think Muschamp ends up at SC. It makes the most sense. They will be in need of a DC at the end of the season, and Spurrier is getting in his last years. Muschamp knows that will give him his best option to get back to the HC position in just a few years.

That's not completely true. Freeze will keep them happy as long as he continues to recruit well but there is pressure at every SEC school including Ole Miss. It has to pointed out that David Cutcliffe won 10 games in 2003 and was named SEC Coach of the Year but was fired a year later. Houston Nutt won 9 games in both 2008 and 2009 while winning the Cotton Bowl twice and pulling the upset of the year in college football in 2008 with a road victory over Florida. Nutt was still fired in 2011... Freeze will get a longer leash than that because of the reputation he has established for himself as a recruiter (provided he keeps his nose clean with the NCAA - Ole Miss is no sacred cow) but make no mistake, there is pressure to win big at Ole Miss. They have spent a lot of money to upgrade their program in the last ten years and they expect results just like everyone else.

There was more to the firing of Cut than just a losing season. After the first losing season (4-7) in 6 seasons, the AD Pete Boone and chancellor Robert Khayat wanted Cut to fire some assistants and Cut refused. it was a tough season, which was the first season post-Eli Manning and several other important starters, and I believe Cut believed the issues that season were related to youth and lack of experience, while Boone particularly wanted to make some wholesale changes among the staff to satisfy the clamoring from the fanbase.

But I think Freeze can keep the fanbase at Ole Miss relatively happy with 8-9 win seasons by occassionally winning 10, avoids those 4-7 seasons, and beats MSU more than he loses to them.

Freeze isn't taking the UF job. Those delusional idiots think Chip Kelly is a realistic option. Their coaching wish list is absurd and full of coaches who wouldn't leave current positions for that job.

I was trying to troll the Ole Miss troll...which you have now ruined.

Anyone have any info on the possibility of flipping this kid? For a while I was seeing pictures with coaches and him wearing Tennessee gear...haven't seen much lately though.

I don't think we are even trying to flip him anymore. I think word got back to our coaches that he was pushing Newsome to Ole Miss while on their visit here and the coaches have bid him farewell.

It does seem like once those rumors surfaced, the Richmond updates kind of slowed. If the coaches found out he did anything like that, I'm glad they parted ways. Just wish it had happened much earlier.

it was reported on VQ that we are trending for Pat Allen so that may have something to do with it too.

Wouldn't be the 1st time. :)

I mean we're all guessing at this point and he may end up at UGA but we're making a major push for him. He wasn't as high as some kids are after an official. I just feel we're starting to make some traction here and they are really going to put the full court press on Allen.

I dont think they are so delusional and neither does Cowherd. Coaching kids has to be a heck of a lot more fun than coaching players that will tell you to GTH in a minute.

ESPN's Cowherd: Philly's Kelly Would Listen If Florida Calls

ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd, however, believes he would be receptive to the right opportunity. And the right opportunity might just be Florida. "Let me just say, Chip will take the phone call if Florida makes it to him," Cowherd said on his radio show Thursday morning.

Kelly at UF would be a nightmare for us.

Yep Chip Kelly is going to take a huge pay cut to go to a struggling school.

As an Eagle fan I can personally guarantee Chip will not be leaving. The front office is prepared to make him the highest paid coach in all of football.

Which is why Chip would take the phone call....LEVERAGE.

Sometimes the money isnt worth it to some people. A 5M contract at UF isnt exactly the poor house.

I'd rather coach a grown man that could tell me to gth as you said than have to travel into spoiled 17 year old's living rooms and act like they're the greatest athlete I've ever seen. I'd much rather coach guys having to earn paychecks that I can cut anytime, than have my job depend on teenage boys and young men who can't even buy a beer.

Any coach that runs the spread attack is dangerous with right qb...look at ut now with Dobbs....look at Meyer with tebow.....a good dual threat qb makes these guys offense go. Without it, they r just average. Florida no longer bothers me BC ut has Butch!!!

Then why do you hang out in a college recruiting forum? No you cant cut players as an NFL coach without the GM's and in many cases the owners approval. In CFB you have total control. That is simply not the case in the NFL and why a lot of NFL coaches are unhappy. Its also why NFL players can tell a coach to eff off. Finally lets not forget the players union as well. Another major pain in the azz
