I'll fill you in, everybody in Tennessee knows what the majority opinion is for Memphis. If I asked 20 people to tell me what they think about Memphis, 19 will have the same answer.

Lived in all 3 cities and for me it's Nashville without question. Not even close really imo.

I like all 3 cities but if I'm choosing a place to live, find a girl, and eventually raise a family then it's Nashville hands down...not even close really. Memphis isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, I enjoyed my time there. Knoxville is in a beautifull area and obviously home of the big orange but that's the only draws for me. I just love Nashville, it has a lot to offer.

You get used to it. You can't avoid all of it no matter where you go. But you can get dogs and lock your doors and make things difficult for them. I probably will move out of the city whenever my wife and I have kids. But we'll see.

I love Memphis though. I see how stuff improves. But I also see how it's super self destructive in a lot of ways. It's kind of a losing battle. But at least we have the Grizzlies. In a lot of ways I feel like they have put us on the map and given us something to be proud of.

The draw back to Nashville for me, is it seems to be melting pot. I want to be around only southern girls.

I neither live in the mountains nor am I a yokel as I earned my degree and work professionally in the medical field. But I lived in both places for several years, and in only one place did I have my car broken into 3 times, had a friend shot and nearly had my wife and young children abducted during an apparent gang initiation right in front of me.....hint: it wasn't in Knoxville.

Stay classy default.

When you have kids, move to the suburbs. I was raised in the suburbs, and it is a great living. My Dad took early retirement so that he didn't have to move. You don't have to worry about what you stated above, good schools, and you can still enjoy the culture and entertainment including the Grizzlies. I am about to have my third child (yes, literally tonight), and we really enjoy where we are.

I was born and raised in Memphis and lived there 22 years. Lived 4 years in Rutherford county as well. Middle Tennessee is very nice, Memphis is a complete s**thole and I will never, ever consider moving back there. I would go back to mid TN but the problem is I live in TX and I'm married to a Texan who thinks God made TX on the eighth day. I guess I can always visit TN......

I think it's only fair for the women of Tejas to offer themselves as brides to the men of Tennessee. Just seems appropriate.

I was born in Memphis and have spent a lot of time there. There are not many better feelings in the world then driving across the bridge on a warm summer night. You can smell the BBQ and the humidity and fresh cut grass. I feel safe and at peace. Driving through the city to my cousins house or grand parents. It's just an awesome city. Fire flys.
