Josh Dobbs will fundamentally redefine the quarterback position at Tennessee if . . .

It will not redefine the QB position at UT, but what it will do, is work with Butch's offensive scheme.....it's been the problem all along...trying to run the read option with no option (Worley)

You can redefine without being the best. For example, Dooley redefined Tennessee as a football program. We could not longer be defined as a powerhouse. Patterson could redefine TN WR's through his usage all over the field, even though he wasn't the best that we have ever had. Dobbs can redefine TN QB's by jump-starting Butch Jones's offensive system, and giving us our first true rushing threat at QB. Even our best rushing QBs were 3-400 yard guys. Dobbs will pass that up by his 3rd or 4th game this season. In that sense, he is redefining, even if he is not the "best" of all time

Accurate on all counts.

"That was too long for me to read."...the absolute dumbest thing a human could ever post on a message board. Either you lack the intellect required or youre too dang lazy. Either way it makes a person look dumb. Cant read something? Thats info a person should keep to themselves. Its better to remain quiet and have people think you a fool...

Or sometimes we like to spare ourselves the time it would have taken to read something we can tell won't be worth our time within the first couple of sentences.

As for calling people lazy because of it; well, I might consider it lazy that you forgot to add apostrophes to your post.

I think the sample size is far too small at this point to decide what Dobbs will or will not revolutionize at the QB position.

And the game in general is changing as well with the spread offenses. Everyone is putting up record numbers these days.

This is from Ryan Callahan at 247: "Perhaps the only other concern about Dobbs is another understandable one: Tennessee’s fans want to win so, so badly, and Dobbs has played so, so well the past few weeks. There’s definitely some concern in the program that people will “crown” Dobbs and make him out to be something he isn’t, and that everyone will be set up for disappointment as a result. Maybe he is that good, but maybe he isn’t. Time will tell."

That quote in bold is what concerns me the most. I just hope he is that good.

twss, and "s" is my mother-in-law. Statements other than mono-syllabic grunts are too much for some yay hoos to absorb. They sit around with "My-daddy-isms" and hate whatever they can't understand. Frustrating, isn't it? I enjoyed the post as the OP, indeed, intuitively covered the predicted negative farts from bubba.

And your reply is any better? Sounds like it should fall into the category of "Info a person should keep to themselves."

Just sayin.

Actually he is. Look back at how dramatically Cam Newton changed Auburn's fortunes...followed by Mitchell and their current offensive juggernaut, and maybe a correlation can be recognized. OP's post was accurate in many ways, IMHO, and if you don't think our offensive signature hasn't been redefined, just ask DC's in Lexington, Columbia (MO), and Nashville if they're looking at their upcoming Tennessee games with a bit more anticipation.

 This....

Don't you guys watch the local news? Maggitt gave Dobbs a nickname.
"the wet noodle".
Dobbs said it was a compliment, he thinks.

Condredge Holloway had one of the greatest nicknames ever bestowed upon a Tennessee quarterback, i.e. the "Artful Dodger."

Yeah, that is a little easier on the ears.
Don't think the espn guys would say it anyway.
Still, I like Curts humor.
"Fumble! He recovers. Refs clear away the carnage to find the wet noodle covering the ball".
Yep, that's not gonna work.

"At this point, I am sure that the length of this post has begun to tax the patience of some of our readers, so I will conclude with"... 2x the length with which I started !

Thanks for the post and #'s, and I agree. And imo we need to add a "bowling ball" running back along with Hurd next year (I guess we have one lined up already?). Still needs to work on accuracy a bit, but Dobbs really seems to favor throwing to Pig Howard -- his throws to Pig seemed right on target.

"Fundamentally Redefining the Quarterback Position at Tennessee"

That was the title, and yes that is extreme after 2 games considering some of the QBs that have played at this school.
That in no way whatsoever is a negative or slight toward Dobbs in any shape or form.

It is not extreme, because a QB that can run and pass has never been a staple of TN QBs. Tee Martin was close, but he had running production that was arguably less than Dobbs. That is what he means by redefining the QB position AT TENNESSEE. Key part is AT TENNESSEE.

I doubt the purpose of thread was along those lines but, ok.

Might as well go ahead and start up a Peterman redefining thread.

He also seems to really like using Jalen Hurd as a safety valve/screen pass target. Half of Jalen's 26 receptions have occurred during the two weeks that Dobbs played extensively.

There is nothing extreme about saying that Josh Dobbs is redefining the QB position AT TENNESSEE. Which is what the OP said. You guys are the crazy extremist babblers. You turned his phrasing so that it may seem he was saying that he is redefining the QB position. OP never said this. He is redefining the QB position AT TENNESSEE. This is arguable, but it makes sense to me. I dont know why so many of you feel the need to call someone out for being 'crazy' or an 'extremist' when all you had to do was read carefully. Again I agree with the statement that Josh Dobbs could redefine the QB position AT TENNESSEE, when Tennessee has traditionally used a pro style QB.
