Cut to Duke?

He'd be a great hire for someone
let's temper that with the fact that the only thing he's done thus far is be a part of a Bama staff that went 6-6.

teh future looks good for him, but it's not set in stone.

Duke's a dead end job---no one can win there. It's basketball and nothing else.

Spurrier went 20-13-1 there and won an ACC title. Not sure he would have equal success today with VT, BC, Miami, in there. They won't ever be a national powerhouse but they can improve for certain. I think best they can hope for is to be on the level of Vandy. If Vandy played in ACC they would probably be 7-5 most years. At least as weak as the ACC is now.

Eh, let's not bring facts into it :)

I think he's going to eventually be a great head coach somewhere. He's young guy that knows the ins and outs of football. However, if he ever has to beat a team quarterbacked by a guy named Simms or beat Oklahoma every year, he'll suck :p

Any BCS conference school can be turned around, even Duke. You have to have a different style, you have to recruit speed first and foremost, and you have to have an AD that will give you 6 years.

I'd like to add to that. The next HFC at Duke needs to do exactly what BP did. Make friends with the two bball coaches, be seen at bball games, atten bball fund raisers and functions. Get his face in front of the camera and do whatever it takes to garner interest.

This is exactly why Cut is NOT the man for the job at Duke.

Duke will continue to be a doormat.

in a conferece that clearly has no door...lots of windows...but no door.
i guess that could be true. Miami and FSU won't be down forever, eventually they'll get back to the top of that conf. and then you'll hav some pecking order with FSU, Miami, VT all at or near the top.....Clemson, BC, GT, UNC, NCSU, MD, VA as 2nd to lower tier, Wake, Duke back to bringing up the rear.

Live in Durham, following the Duke job closely in Duke forums, etc.

Cut has not been contacted by Duke. They have interviewed Paul Johnson (who of course turned them down for GT), Rod Broadway, Bobby Johnson, and Dorrell.

Cut seems to have a lot of interest among the Duke fan base (all three hundred of them :birgits_giggle:). Not many Duke fans seem all that excited about BJ or Dorrell. Right now there is a groundswell of interest in Rick Neuheisel. Spurrier and several other coaches have recommended him to Duke, and he is definitely interested in the job. But apparently somebody on the search committee is reluctant to interview him because of his baggage from Colorado and Washington.

If Duke is really interested in Cut, they seem to be holding that interest in reserve in case nothing else pans out. Otherwise they would have contacted him by now.

So let me get this straight. You guys want CDC to leave for Duke because his offense stinks (33.4 ppg). And you want him replaced by Borges who just quit because his offense stinks (24.3 ppg).

OK?

Is there a Cut leave and not take Borges option?

Actually I wanted Chris Hatcher when CDC was hired. From everything that is flying around it is hard to imagine Cut staying put. Do you think CPF will promote TT to OC if that happens? If Cut leaves I would give you 2:1 odds that Borges gets a phone call. He and Cut are from the same cloth.

No.

If Borges is hired I will be very disappointed.

If Trooper Taylor is ever promoted to offensive coordinator, I'll immediately have two season tickets for sale.
