I agree.

If I'm Hart I am not even discussing more $$ till UT is in a bowl game. Making it to a bowl game would get CBJ IMO about a 500,000.00 bump in pay and an extension. Win the bowl game and secure a top 5 class and I might bump him to 3.75/year and give him some $$ to spread around to the assistants. No bowl game and I'm not cutting a check for anything. JMO

I could hire a heck of a recruiting coordinator for 3 mil a year. Just saying. Pay increases have to be tied to winning at this point.

Yeah! Reasonable people.

Even 65% of the comments say they don't blame Jones for leaving UC. That writer definitely has some daddy issues.

Yep, I was gonna say the same thing. If you have to say it isn't a jilted lover rant, it is probably is a jilted lover rant.

The assistants got a 1 year extension earlier this year through Feb 2016 and Thig got a $25,000 raise and a vehicle or $600 allowance for one. So they should be pretty happy right now.

I agree with all of this.

I don't think Michigan is going to be able to walk in and steal Butch Jones away even if they really wanted to. The money would have to be outrageous. He is already in the best conference in the country with great talent stockpiling around him. He is getting really close to having the hardest part of the rebuilding effort behind him. Why leave now to go to a similar situation and start over?? And with a damaged reputation to go with it. He would not win in that situation and neither would Michigan.

If Butch Jones wants to win in big time college football he's going to have to do it at Tennessee. This is his best chance. And he's already laid the ground work.

Hopefully the wins are coming.

Also.... real excited about Dobbs.

Could Michigan steal him if they wanted him? IMO they could. If they are paying Hoke 4.5 million a year, it would stand the reason the next guy in will be making 5 million+ unless they start over with a mid major type guy. I doubt Michigan does that. Would CBJ consider moving back home to Michigan for 2 million more a year than he is making now? IMO he would be stupid not to. That said, I doubt CBJ is in Michigan's top 5 candidates. They get turned down a few times and maybe we are revisiting this later on.

Do you think Mich would be willing to pay Butch's 3 Million dollar buyout and all of his staff's buyouts since I'm sure he'd like to take most of them with him?

I guess I'm just saying that I think we would be able to keep him here.

That seems like a lot for Michigan to pay for another new coach.

If he gets offered that from Michigan, I think Hart would be able to give him a raise and convince him to stay based off of the situation he is building. There are so many positives ahead. The sky is the damn limit.

Also Butch has recruited his ass off and hasn't reaped any of the benefits from that yet. I don't see a situation where he leaves. And I don't see a situation where Michigan offers that much to our coach who really hasn't proven much yet on the field.

You're talking about home run money. Would Michigan fans see the hiring of Butch Jones as a home run? I don't know. I didn't see it that way when we hired him. I'm still not 100% convinced he is now. Although I do feel pretty good about him.

With the record he currently has and the near misses he's had on the field but misses nonetheless I don't think they'd have the stomach to. Butch is good but he isn't without question marks. Had he done what he had previously but not following CBK then fine but that isn't true. Had he beaten UGA and UF this year then maybe but as is that is a lot of question marks for 5 million.

Do I think Michigan has the boosters/$$ to make it happen if that is what they wanted to do? Yeah.

As I said, I think CBJ would be a ways down their board and likely never comes into play for them.

I wonder if Gary Patterson at TCU would have interest in the Michigan job? He would be a heck of a hire for them. A 1 loss Michigan is much more likely to make the playoffs than a 1 loss TCU.

Good point. I'm surprised that no one has hired him away yet. He would be an excellent hire and has an excellent offensive mind.

That was who I wanted us to hire. I think he would do excellent there.

Spurrier is preparing for Dobbs. He is not fooled by Butch's coach speak. (In other words, Spurrier thinks that the VOLS will play their most talented quarterback)
