UT/Meeechigan situations over the last decade have been difficult to comprehend. My non-expert opinion is that UT's is well on its way to being resolved. Not so much for Meeechigan. Both schools hired a highly regarded coach from a school that was a step or so down. However, Butch went long term while Brady went short term. Butch did not adapt his system to his roster and immediately and started recruiting to the system's needs. Brady adapted his system to his roster to get better results in the W column to satisfy the fan base, which sent a mixed signal to the potential recruits. Result: Butch is blowing Brady out in recruiting, which will obviously resulting in a much brighter long term picture for our Vols.
Had Butch adapted like Brady last and this season, the W's would have been enough to ensure bowl games IMO. Instead he stuck to his process, which a few of us on here believe was the deal he cut with Hart during the original interview/discussions. Speaking of grassy knolls, this extends to who plays and when, which has been very obvious and is why you get Butchspeak when it comes to not announcing to the world a player's medical condition, who is really better at a position, etc. Not really much of a conspiracy actually, every program needs sacrificial lambs and scapegoats when the new master takes over. It's just smart business. Hart and Butch are very smart businessmen. What Butch did not calculate correctly was the deeper understanding of what it takes to win in the SEC that the other participants, the fans and the media possess. He has been busy getting a better handle on that of late.
