Ok so how much? How much is Butch Jones worth right now if Michigan had a strong impulse to steal him away. There is such a thing as diminishing returns.

The fan base really hasn't been too hard on him. There are dips**ts online that talk trash. These guys know what they are in for when they take the job.

You guys make it sound like you'd pay a 5-7 coach and one 0-4 in conference this year enough to be one of the highest paid coaches in the sec. Off of what, slogans and 1.5 recruiting classes? I get it but only to a point.

Yeah it's as easy as snapping your fingers and telling a top level head coach who is successful where he is to jump ship and come to Tennessee. Just out of curiosity, name a couple of those proven winners on game day...

The real problem being more than just Jones and Staff themselves.

Jones recruits will go with him as they are sold on his program and who could blame them. Any coach I don't care who you want to hire will have to rebuild the program. UT can end Jones tenure and restart the "process" resetting the 4-5 year cycle. And in two years we can repeat the process for as long as the school and the fan base lack the fortitude to grow a competitive program.

I have it from Layla that Lane has the in side track and is taking Sal Sunseri with him and Dooley is a sure thing for the AD. You can bank on it.

Again all things make sense within limits. Knowing our luck Butch will become one of the highest paid coaches with a big long contract get his recruits in here and still not make the big dances and we can restart 5 years from now. It's all risks. None of this crap comes with a crystal ball. The rest of this season will provide better evidence.

To an extent but you are in year 2 of that 4-5 year cycle. If Jones truly feels pressure from the fan base, which I am not at all convinced of by the way, then the right offer would probably make him jump due the sheer lunacy of the fan base alone. Michigan could easily convince him they have the determination to build a program where we do not.

If Butch thinks Michigan is a dream job it will not matter. What Butch has reminded all of you and the world is that UT is an attractive place to play and work. He's done such a good job many of you believe only he can do so. Kiffin did it too fwiw. Even as ****ty as Dooley was he recruited well here early on.

Butch needs to come out and squash the rumors....
If not, take a bucket of water, and roll the F out of town to put out the UM dumpster fire.
I'm from Tennessee, so I can't fathom UM being a dream job.
He's not from here, so maybe he goes.
The one thing I do understand is I'm getting sick of us getting a** smashed every weekend on ESPN.
But the idea he deserves a raise for 5-6 seasons is ridiculous.....
If he's worth 3 million, Fulmer was worth 17 trillion.

Well that is exactly when this fiasco was set in motion. 7 years and apparently the fan base has learned nothing. Perhaps we will revisit this subject in 7 more years when we have added another 3 coaches to the list.

Agreed. I expect them to put out feelers to Harbaugh (Jim), and if the response is even lukewarm, they'll throw the state budget at him.

If not, then any guess is probably better than mine.

Butch isn't leaving. This is where he peaks, or fades from view.

UM will probably go for someone we have never heard of with ties to the university. They tend to do that there, at least when they are good. tOSU does the same thing.
