I actually am a fan of Reid. I was excited when he committed. It's certainly nothing against him personally.

There are better backs available. Players are asked to look around every year. Remember Lee Lawrence? No one cried when he was let. Of course he doesn't have a cool name though.

Lee Lawrence. He must be buddies with CJ Boleman.

I realize there are talented players still on the board, and that the reality of things is there isn't a spot for everyone, but I think were nuts not to take this guy if he wants to be in Knoxville. If all this chatter about not having a spot for him is real (which I don't think it is).

Watch their film. Don't just go by size. All three of those guys are terrific inside runners.

Terrific inside runner on 1st and 10 starting a drive is different than Mano y mano on the goal line or short yardage to keep the clock rolling and needing to beast up and bowl over somebody.

If Perry is part of this class. If we get Love, then we will have him Reid and Kamara. There is a chance that Perry is dropped. Unless maybe CBJ wants him at DB. Maybe he stays then.

I'm thinking CBJ is starting to realize the exact same problem I identified after the first game and got hammered for saying it on here; the problem being, we do not have a "home run" type RB on this team. CBJ was asked before the Chatt. game on TV what he wanted to see from Hurd and his response was 4 yards every carry and then the big runs will come. Hurd needs a compliment RB who's fast in and out of his cuts and who can catch out of the back field. Perry and Love give us just that. Those two guys play way faster than any RB we have on our team right now outside maybe Scott who none of us have seen enough of to even judge what kind of RB he is. I believe Perry is being set up as PIG's replacement, and Love is being recruited as the scat back who has elite top end speed and is incredibly elusive. Love is a great ST guy, and Perry can play there as well if need be. Point is, I think Perry is being recruited as a slot WR, and Love is being recruited as our 3rd RB for this class. I also think this means Bruce is most likely moving to defense if all four of these guys end up here on NSD, which at this moment I believe is 100% the plan.

I like Reid but he may be about to be phased out. Probably about to try to get Vaughn and will also end up adding Love to go with Kamara.

Matthews alluded to up to six midstate kids being added and others being dropped. Felt like Jefferson ended up a Vol in the end as well. Since then we've added Perry, Phillips seems to be trending our way, Martin is looking to be on board as well.

FWIW I hope I'm wrong but it lines up.

Biggest problem I see with Vaughn and make no mistake about it I love getting instate kids in Orange, is he has been quoted several times saying he is looking for very early playing time and IMO I'm not sure Tennessee is where he gets that. With Hurd and Scott obviously having an advantage seeing reps already and Kamara being a Juco guy who will see a lot of carries early, not sure a TFR coming in would see many reps early on. I said I thought Reid would RS. If they plan to use Perry at RB or if they add another RB IMO they likely RS as well.

If Vaughn is serious about early playing time then he better get on board with the Boilermakers. He's going to be with a stock of talented backs wherever he decides to go unless he goes to Purdue.

Also, I don't think Reid is a redshirt guy. He's a big kid already, plus he's an early enrollee so he's going to have plenty of time to get ready. He and Kamara are going to get snaps.

I got the chance to watch a few of Reid's games in person. This kid is without a doubt hilariously underrated! I've watched several highly rated backs over the years across FL, GA, NC, and SC and this kid is one of the best I've seen! Take it for what it's worth, but I'm telling you Vol Nation don't sleep on this one! This kid is going to be a star without a doubt. Hopefully we can keep this young man in orange.

Well we can definitely sell that we're not afraid of starting a true freshman or getting them significant carries. If Vaughn were on campus now he would be getting carries.

If he were on campus now, he very well could. Next year? Unless Hurd, Scott, and or Kamara go down with injury I doubt it. I don't see the coaches using a 4-5 RB rotation. They will play the bet 2-3 and IMO that's it. The coaches have been selling the TFR playing time. Obviously at some point that should and NEEDS to end. Player development should have most of the future TFR looking at a RS after the 2015 class. Some positions already so IMO.

Matthews is full of waffles if he thinks we add 6 more in state kids.

IMO he was saying CBJ is considering that many. Perry, Phillips, Amadi, would be some I'm sure. Matthews also seemed to think Jefferson was a flip candidate. Add Vaughn as a RB they are still looking at and there is 5. "Could sign up to 6 more" could end up being 2 in reality. Just have to see how it plays out.

I just hope the staff doesn't get too caught up with in state kids. Take the best regardless.

Needs to be a mixture obviously as they will never be able to take a class just of instate kids. In the past I liked to see 6-7 TN kids taken at least. With the state producing more talent now, I'd like to see maybe 10-12.
