If you are referring to the Oher story, that was totally different. I was told OM isn't the only one trying things to get Richmond, but the other schools appear to be out.

Ah yes the family just took him in out of the goodness of their heart. His ability to play football at a high level had zero to do with it.

Sean Tuohy makes plenty of money through his businesses and did not need recognition. I don't believe Oher was a standout until his junior year, so it wasn't that apparent. Regardless of any motivation, people need to realize that the situation helped a young man from a rough upbringing. Oher is a millionaire now on his own with some help from others, and I will never understand how people criticize the situation.

I don't think peoples issue lies with helping a young man out of a less than ideal situation and putting him in a position to be successful. I think it is related more to how the situation was portrayed on film. Oher was a freaking stud before the Tuohys took him in. They didn't take a no name no talent kid and turn him into an all-sec future NFL left tackle. Their motivation for doing so aside, I'm glad he got the opportunity to succeed. I just wish it had been at UT.

Then, that is the first problem: people are relying on films to form their opinions. I am not sure of the exact time that they officially took him in, but I believe the Tuohy's had helped Oher even before he became a standout. Their daughter had told them about him in class, and Sean had seen him in the gym before Oher was academically eligible to play basketball. The bottom line is that a kid got better exposure, made his grades, and had a stable home because they helped him. I do not like OM and never will, but at this point, he is a successful person for it.

So the ends justifies the means? There are several thousand young black males in the city of Memphis that come from upbringings just as bad as Michael Oher's. When the Tuohy family takes one in to their home who doesn't go on to be an All-American athlete who plays for Ole Miss, I will believe the Tuohys had purely altruistic motives in mind while providing for him.

Not a true VFL IMO.

Reported.

He had been accepted into Briarcrest, the same school in which their daughter attended. They didn't just pluck him out of the inner city. Yes, the end does matter. If everyone who had the means could do this just for one child, the world would be a better place. People criticize them because it wasn't for the team we root for. If it was at UT, they would be hailed for it.

I know it's sarcasm, but my wife would say otherwise. This is not a Vol or OM issue. This is a human decency issue, and I don't ultimately care about motivation. A "kid" is a millionaire because people helped him, and those people are not like handlers who want to gain from it. They were already wealthy.

Like I said, when they do the same thing for a young black male who doesn't go on to an All-American athletic career for their alma mater, I will believe they are altruists. Until that happens, they are boosters who acted as boosters providing extra benefits to an athlete being recruited by their school....You can spin this anyway you like, I don't believe for one second that they would have done this for someone they didn't see as a major college prospect.

No problem. I am not spinning anything. When the Tuohy's first met him, I don't believe he was being recruited by anyone. But, people can believe all they want after watching a movie. Maybe they still support young kids, and no one knows it because those aren't athletes in the public eye. It goes both ways.

But, let's move on. Somehow what the Tuohy's did is getting spun to effect the recruiting of Drew Richmond. Something illegal must be going on.

As much as I hate the thought, that is the vibe I am getting as well. Looking at UT's roster, West TN is just about non-existent. The Jason Carr situation sure did not help any. Maybe the staff did take Boulware as they knew how this was about to play out. I know there has been talk he could possibly play some OT, but OG was more likely. Maybe the staff just took the "best available" OL wise on their board. Maybe CBJ can still get Drew in Orange.

The Boulware addition does free up the possibility to maybe shift Zach Stewart to RT and Jack Jones to LT for the 2015 class. Boulware at OG and we'll be getting Charles Mosley for 2015 who will probably be an OG. Weisman is getting work at C so we'll at least have something resembling a 2-deep on the OL for the first time in probably 6-7 years.

Just an epic stink eye.

Jones projects to OG but might be able to pull off RT.

The scary thing right now is of what we have on the roster and committed the only true LTs we have is a project in Chance Hall and Blair if he pulls it together.

Richmond is a HUGE need to solidify the tackle position.
