Him running people off to make room for 5 in this class. Either way it looks bad. He's either running off seniors (Reese, Baulkman, etc) or guys that he just recruited (McGhee, etc). You better believe if he does it that will be used in negative recruiting against us
People connected to the program are saying we'll take 5. Something will have to happen to take 3 more.
So now he's running off kids and other coaches are using it against him? Can we play a freaking game or maybe have a practice before the soap opera bs?
UConn did it this past year. They had 1 top 20 class in the last 4 seasons coming into last year.
Its not a soap opera, Sparty. You know I don't start drama. He would have to run off people to take 5. That's a fact. People close to the program have said we will take 5. I'm sure you understand how running off a senior or a guy he just recruited would be used against us in recruiting.
Eh, at least its something to talk about.
I doubt what UConn did is normal.
I still think it's a huge stretch to think that one Top 20 class in a four-span will make us an NC contender. We would be overachieving if we were ranked with that level of recruiting.
Winning the title without a top 20 class doesn't happen. But a decent number of teams make the final 4 without ever signing a top 20 class.
That said, with Woodson, Mostella, Punter and Owens plus the others counted, I think this class is very close to top 20 level. Two top 100, a Juco AA, a 6'11 guy who was top 100 at one point. That's not a bad haul. That and the size of it gives Tyndall a little breathing room in what he can take this year. I'd hope we sign a top 20 class this season, but we won't know how it'll all shake out until next spring. So I'm not going to get all worked up about it. Especially when one of the guys is a top 10 player in Georgia that had multiple SEC offers.
I know you say we need top notch players but if CDT is the coach we hope he is, do you not like some of the games of some of the recruits that are up there now and committed?
College ball is different. We just need ball players, shooters and a coach. That's why I love the game. If you have that, you are always in it. And by good players, I don't mean kids rivals decided to jump 20 spots before their sr year. I mean kids that play hard and know how to play basketball.
I agree with all of that, especially if you can get kids that fit your system. I just think there were better ball players available at this point than the ones we took. I think Schofield and Shembari are good players. I'm excited to see them develop. I was just expecting coach to go after some guys who could have more of an instant impact. He needs to get a legit point guard to fill out the class.
Ideally, we'd land Bacon and Crawford or Miller IMO.
