Rick Perry Indicted

The woman was arrested for a felony. She is unfit for the job

I think you're probably focusing on the wrong thing here. The DA isn't on trial. Infact, I also believe she's unfit for duty and should absolutely vacate her position as DA and ESPECIALLY her position as the anti corruption chief.

However, she is still an elected official - not appointed - and it's not Perry's call to fire her. Telling her to quit her publicly elected job "or else" could easily be described as coercion.

She had agreed not to seek reelection.

It's not coercion when its all out in the open. It's just political tactics.

It could be political, but it also took a Republican Special Prosecutor and a Republican Judge (appointed be Perry) to move the indictment forward. These two clearly thought that the situation deserved more investigation.

And I think that stems from the fact that the corruption unit was investigating the shenanigans of the cancer research project. Yes, the entire 7.5 million was not going just to that, but it will be hard for them to do their job if they have no funding at all. While the actual act of vetoing the funding may not be illegal, the fact that Perry may have had his hand in a dirty cookie jar should not be lost either.

Can someone explain why a county DA is tabbed to head up this statewide task force? It just seems like an odd set up.

Have any of you ever served on a jury? Or a grand jury? I've served on a couple of jury's and most of the jurors didn't even understand the cases.

Jury duty for times, panel once. When they found out what I did for a living I was immediately excused. I think LG was for the plaintiff. Was a BS case and after the plaintiffs lawyer described why we were there, I had already decided for the defense.

I defend lawsuits.

Well my respect for you just went up 100X. So you don't do civil suits except to defend?

Don't be so quick with praise. Without rats filing that snake would be out of a job. Never once saw him advocate tort reform.

You guys keep saying he is a Republican special prosecutor and you do not know that.

Well let's take a look at him. . He was appointed Federal Proceutor by Republican George Bush after being endorsed by the two Republican Senators from Texas. He was appointed to lead this investigation by a Republican Judge. Yes he is a Republican.

Gramps, you keep getting sideways. You're getting the judge and the special prosecutor mixed up. The special prosecutor was selected by the judge. You have no idea what his party affiliation is.

Yep sure did. Also voted for Reagan. I would have voted for Reagan and Clinton for a third term if they could have ran.
As far as Carter , the republicans of today voted for him look at the states he carried.

No sir I am not.

A Republican judge from Bexar County, Bert Richardson,*appointed*a special prosecutor, Michael McCrum, to handle the prosecution.

McCrum, a criminal defense attorney in San Antonio, is a former Dallas police officer who began his career as a federal prosecutor during the George H.W. Bush administration, according to his online bio. In 2009, the state's two Republican U.S. senators, John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison,*recommended him*to become U.S. attorney for the Western District, according to published reports
