Great day!! We need the season to start ASAP! Seems like every thread is going straight loco...scary movies in one, soccer in another, music in another, etc etc.

I have to go with Sinister as one of the scariest movies here of late.

The movies that freak me out are like Silence of the Lambs. Actually could happen.

I was a med student on a rotation in Chicago when I saw it. I realized that I had been everywhere in Memphis that those scenes were filmed (I grew up in Memphis).

I slept just fine...but I was in Chicago :)

To be fair, there are more professional games across all leagues played in England in 1 day than there are NFL games in an entire year. Factor in Spain, Italy, Brazil, Germany, ect.. The amount of games played means that somewhere in the world, there's going to be an outrageous flop or acting lesson going on. And it's gonna be televised and made into a gif and end up on VolNation talking about how soccer players act like sissies.

Gotta factor in with many more games all year round, across the world, you're gonna see plenty of outrageous things in soccer.

On the other hand, Van gonna be Vol. Just has a Malone feeling to this one.

I used to absolutely despise everything about soccer. I didn't really follow it before the 2010 World Cup. After that I started to understand the nuances of the game, which actually made it fun to watch for me. Once you understand it you can see why it's called The Beautiful Game

I've always watched the World Cup, and thoroughly enjoy it. Probably because I have a "vested interest" in it (much like I enjoy the Olympics, but would be bored watching 95% of the events outside of that setting). Maybe if I picked a team and watched it more often, I would like it even more. However, as much as I like the World Cup, I still don't enjoy it nearly as much as basketball (college ball or playoffs), football, MLB playoffs, or MMA. I can only spend so much time watching sports without upsetting the wife, so I haven't invested too much time trying to get into soccer outside of the World Cup.

I played all three, and they all three take coordination. Soccer is a little bit different simply because it's not just about moving your feet, but controlling a ball with them. Dribbling a basketball is most comparable.

Definitely takes more coordination than golf or baseball IMO.

But soccer is definitely not a sissy sport. I've seen some crazy terrible injuries in my time, and sustained some pretty good ones as well (headbutt to the face...I wear glasses. The blood was plentiful.) Plus, the average soccer player runs 7-9 miles a game. Typically, 90 minutes of non-stop running. It's intense.

But I will tell you that I think soccer is the most ridiculously boring sport to watch unless it's a shootout. 3 sports I can't stand to watch, but enjoy playing: Soccer, baseball, and golf. Just can't deal will slow paced games. But I'm constantly amazed that soccer hasn't picked up as well in America. It's seriously an incredible sport. Just a pain to watch.

I won't protest too much, because I admittedly never played soccer at a high level, but I find it hard to believe it takes more coordination than hitting a baseball at the college or pro level. Most people say that hitting is the most difficult thing in all of sports. The reaction time to hit a fastball is like.26 seconds. When you also have to deal with curveballs, change ups, sliders, etc., and a guy throwing heat in the low to mid 90s, it takes more coordination and quicker reflexes than anything else in sports IMO.

I agree that it's a shame that soccer hasn't taken off in America the way it has in most countries. The national team would be much better if the best athletes were playing soccer. Instead, the vast majority of the best athletes are playing football and basketball. That's not a slight to the players on our national team. They are still incredible athletes.

Chris Bosh disagrees. At least that guy was touched. Don't try that game because it is no different. Both sports do it.

Every sport does it because it gives you an advantage if the referee buys it. Although every soccer match I've seen at least 4 people appear to be barely clinging on to life only to miraculously be healed when they either get the call or not

This is a really good point I hadn't thought about.

Seriously though, we can talk soccer in the off topic forum, it's gone too long in this thread.

Soccer is a sissy sport. It has no place in this country and kids these days need to get more involved in baseball at the little league level and of course football. Also need to get boxing goin again. Real american sports.
