Lots of people have opinions on why the U.S. declared its independence on 7/4/1776. No taxation without representation, a lust for power, greed, etc., but no one can deny the roles of freedom from religious oppression and freedom of speech. One of the reasons we celebrate the 4th of July is because we are guaranteed the right to worship Jesus Christ AND speak freely about our beliefs. This is true for all ideologies and religious convictions. Please don't pursue silencing those who oppose you; it is exactly this freedom that makes our nation so special.

Happy 4th of July!

So I played golf today.

On this long par 4 that has a blind drive because the fairway has an extremely downhill grade. We, being the considerate golfers that we are, drive ahead to make certain the group ahead of us is gone.

Everyone of us hit dead center of the fairway but in the blind spot for the next group. All the sudden a ball lands about 5 feet away from where I was standing. I run up the hill to tell the group behind us we are in the line of fire.

The old guys in that group were hitting from the reds. I yelled "hold up". One of the old farts yelled back "we'll I guess you should hurry the F up".

I proceeded back down the hill into the blind spot and another ball comes close to me. I pick a ball up and throw it into the high weeds.

They didn't do that the rest of the day.

I played golf with my cousin one time and he teed a ball up and hit it back at 'em.

Had this exact same thing happen to me today! I was playing in a foursome, and some guy playing with his girlfriend(who was just riding) drove on top of us then complained because we hadn't let him play despite him only just having come up to us. So after he dropped a couple of inappropriate words, we let him play through. And then I waited and dropped a 4-iron on to the green in the middle of his putt.

I told the guy in my cart it's like that one scene in the Hangover. "I'll hit an old man. Yeah that's right, you better walk away".

Getting away from soccer and eating, just watched Timothy Miller (again) sing God Bless America on the Braves baseball telecast and as always he does a fantastic very moving rendition of it. If anyone hasn't seen him it's worth making a special effort.

Haven't played much recently because of young kids, but I have played enough golf in my life for these things to happen. One day, i was playing with my Dad, and he did the exact same thing. The guys behind us had hit into us more than once, and my Dad took the iron in his hand and hit it back to them.

I have always tried to be considerate and only hit into others on accident or with a terrible shot. But I cannot stand playing a round where you have to wait for the group in front while also getting pushed from behind. When we were members at a club, my Dad used to get the first summer tee time. We would tee off as the sun was rising and be done by 9:30. My Dad and I would rather take a nap in the afternoon than play a 4.5+ hour round of golf.

The hitting into groups in front issue in golf is worse because many clubs do not hire rangers anymore. If you got caught at some places I have played your tail would be in parking lot putting your clubs back in your car. Few clubs lay out the expectations before you play. They just grab your money and send you on your way.

In a HS match my daughter's group was hit into intentionally while they were putting with a group of parents standing by the green. Some yahoo thinking he was being cool and funny while talking big with his buddies. When I picked his ball up and threw it in the water and met him as he approached the green he rethought his actions and acted like it was an accident. Right - less than 200 yards out and he is hitting at the green. The owner then came down and escorted him from the premises.

Lots of goofballs out there. Be careful.

The thing is, we were waiting on the group ahead of us. The guys behind us were acting like it was us.

Like I said, after I threw his ball in the tall weeds, they backed off. Good thing for them too because my buddy who is 6'4 260 was about to tee one of their balls up and crush it back at them.

I think Freak took the site down to up the limit for posts to accommodate the TG thread. We should be able to get 99,999 posts in that thread now. Lol.

Yup. Something is deff not right. What up with that, Freak?

Freak had said somewhere this weekend that he had server problems which caused post time and day of week problems. It also apparently has messed up putting the new post in bold. There was also several hours when VN members weren't able to post anything. A cluster weekend.

Thanks :hi: sounds like what's going on. I'm sure it'll be all good soon.

Couple of updates on guys who UT isn't really in it with. Thought this would be a good place.

Jordan Scarlett is deciding today between USCe, tOSU, and Miami. The Canes are really surging here and look to be his pick.

Blake Barnett is really impressing at the Elite 11. He checked in at a hair under 6'5. He's a Bama commit.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: #Bama QB commit Blake Barnett told me after de-committing from NotreDame, an ND fan tweeted at him saying he hoped he tears his ACL.

Kyler Murray, Texas A&M commit, checked in at 5'10 and 177 lbs. Didn't know he was that little. Little worrisome.

@RivalsFriedman: 3-star RB AJ Turner will be announcing today between #SouthCarolina #MichiganState and #UVA

@Rivals: 4-Star OL Andre James will commit at The Opening. He talks final 5 schools. #Bruins #OSU #Trojans #Sooners #Utes ($)
