This simply won't happen. TN will always appeal to WR's.

Not when they become blockers most of the time.

Tennessee has appealed to WRs because we have been a pro-style passing offense for years. The minute we run an Auburn read option is the day we stop landing guys like Josh Malone, Vonn Pearson, and Marquez North in numbers. Sure we will get a decent WR opt two, but nothing like we are getting these days.

Good thing that's not happening, I guess.

Sooooo I'm a lurker, but what I have gathered is that if your post to like ratio is less than 3 to 1 then you either post way too much useless poo,or you're a half empty kinda person who no one really cares for. Idk some of these "negavols" personally nor have I been here long enough to judge anyone, but in all honesty I come home and pop a cold one and get on here just to see all of the great things happening here at UT daily to be upended by someone who is a "realist"

In my honest opinion it's really hard to be a realist when you bleed orange. I've always had the mentality that no matter how much talent we have on the field, there's always a chance. Maybe just try to take a half full approach sometimes and see where this fan base can go. Rise to the top...

I am saying that TG is not a quality passer. I am unimpressed with his fundamentals and his impatience in the pocket.

Butch recruited WRs to be the playmakers in this offensive system. The minute they become blockers most of the time, much like Auburn's WRs , they will stop flocking to UT in numbers and go elsewhere.

***Auburn offense you mean

We mix in some read option.. You're either dismissing the fact, or trying to make it way more complicated than it is. While also dismissing the fact that TG was in his first year at the position

I like the attitude. Being a bit of a homer is more fun, IMO.

He thinks read option and zone read are different things. He also thinks for some reason that with TG we will completely stop throwing the ball. If TG can't throw like Butch demands in his offense., he will not put him out there. With the read option and our weapons on the outside our offense could be as deadly as Oregon's with TG being our Mariotta. That's if TG develops as a passer, which I think he has the ability to.

The funniest thing is Tux says Auburn doesn't land WR when they just signed 5* WR JUCO Duke Williams, who some say is as good or better than CP was coming out of JUCO.

This thread will get all kinds of ugly if/when TG commits to Tennessee.

I don't think the thread would "get ugly". UT has taken other recruits I felt were a waste of a scholarship. I still welcome them as a Vol. A 3rd QB in 1 class to me is a waste. Now that Bruce is a WR commitment, I'd pass on Gibson altogether.

He's not committed anywhere yet. Unless he has a change of plans about his commitment date, I expect there to be many more twists and turns to this one by NSD.

Agreed. It is amazing the twists and turns that take place within the 2 weeks prior to NSD. Alot can change come NSD; for the better or for the worse.

This thread is all kinds of awkward and I hope TG never ventures into it. Tux trolling everybody is the worst. Making some of the most ridiculous statements a serious poster could make reveals that he is a trolling or looney tunes or both. To even pretend you know more than the guys getting the big checks that do it for a living know is just one example. FWIW Butch is quite capable of adjusting his scheme for virtually any style QB while making the WR's happy. Pro style, mobile, dual threat - it doesn't matter. But what cannot be replaced is an elite playmaker at the position.

For another example I guess Tux knows more than Urban and has the NC rings as head coach to prove it. Tux: Tebow. A barely adequate passer in college working from the spread. In the NC picture every year. UF has WRs all over the NFL from those years. Whether you like them or not, the WRs are in the NFL. Butch runs 4 wide far more that Urban ever has and the WRs know it.

oh look, another I would pass on TG altogether post. I guess Bruce is a better WR than TG , just like QD is a better QB than TG ?
You need to get you and Tux on a 3 way call with BJ and let him know what he is doing wrong.

Maybe I'm not sure of the context of the "Tebow barely adequate passer in college" comment.

Tebow as a passer in college.

He completes 66.4% of his passes. He threw for 9,285yards. 88TDs and 16INTs.

Just for reference, Peyton Manning as a passer in college.

He completes 62.5% of his passes. He threw for 11,201 yards. 89 TDs and 33 INTs.

So let me get this straight. Because we got the commitment from Bruce, you would pass on one of the best offensive players in the country? So you think Bruce is on the same level as Gibson?

So I am curious, if we got a commitment from a lower ranked and less skilled DT, would you be wiling to pass on McKenzie?

Let's say Van Jefferson wanted to sign with us, would you be willing to pass on Preston Williams?

So would you be happy IF Gibson put up Tebow type numbers and that kind of success at UT?
