Considering that Butch found a way to sign as many kids that we signed last year, I think he understands the numbers thing better than you do.

Besides, I didn't call you out specifically. If you felt like I was mischaracterizing you, it must be because the shoe fits. Wear it, hero.

But the good news for us with Miami is that they got a really solid QB already in Dwayne Lawson. I always really liked him almost as much as Gentry.

I'm not on the "Gibson for QB" bandwagon, but I am on the "get Gibson" bandwagon.

It's not a numbers thing, it's getting an elite SEC level athlete.

If you haven't figured out that CBJ will make room for what is needed and you don't have all the answers, I don't know what to tell you.

It's more a consequence of him delaying his commitment timetable than my impression of his skills...not really fair...the kid just wants his day...more interested in EE commitments than being fair. :hi:

Wow...all I need to do is put an opinion out and I get the "hero" label...I must've had you all wrong. :glare:

As far as the numbers go I'm aware that Butch knows how numbers work, but he can't make em up where they ain't...we're not getting anything over 25 this year...sorry...if we end up with Gibson and everything else we need, no one will be more ecstatic than me...I'm a Vol fan just as much or more than you...this is my view so I'm expressing it.

I am on the "get Gibson" bandwagon. He would be a great addition to our WRs corps. He would be able to best utilize his gift from God-his legs.

Bingo. Gibson and Jennings (for that matter) could wind up at a position other than QB and be elite.

Absolutely 100% this.

I'm of the opinion that Gibson *could* turn into an outstanding QB but I also want him for the fact that he is an ELITE athlete, maybe the best in the entire class. No one in the world will ever convince me that we couldn't use a player with his skillset after seeing just how slow this team was last year compared to the upper echelon of the SEC (and Oregon).

If you don't think the kid is a good player Butchna, then just say so. I don't agree with that but it's your opinion and you're entitled to that just like everyone else. Hell, that's what makes VN fun.

Its the nonsense about his character, scared of competition, just wants twitter followers etc. that always pisses everyone off because no one on here knows whether or not it's true and it's just tacky imo. When stuff like that is posted, THAT is when this thread blows the hell up and it turns into a complete dumpster fire pissing match.

The objective is to find the best players, not just to keep 'ships filled up.

I have no idea who would win a 3-way QB competition between JJ, TG, and QD, but if any of them lose it and want to transfer away - go right ahead.
