I'm confused why you don't see the potential benefits that wrestling can provide, especially in the trenches. Do you just hate wrestling or something? Did you ever even wrestle bruh?

I did not. I'm not a fan of the sport. Losing weight quickly means losing muscle. Anything wrestling can teach, should be able to be taught by a capable oline coach.

Actually, losing weight quickly is water first, then fat, before you get to muscle. How about you just bow out of this conversation since you don't know what you're talking about? K? K. Glad we had this little chat :whistling: No offense meant at all good sir, but you are talking out of your ass here.

If you really think it's possible for a 4 star lineman to drop 45 lbs in a matter weeks or even 2-3 months, without losing massive amount of muscle you're a fool.

Where exactly did he suggest this? To be honest, the only reason I asked if Drew Richmond wrestled was to attempt to get this thread back on track. I wasn't looking for a serious answer. No offense, but like sig said, you may want sit the next couple of plays out.

To think the kid doesn't have over 45 pounds of fat is just as foolish. Richmond could lose weight like Mosley can afford to lose weight.

If he weighs 320 he needs to drop to 281. That's nearly 40 lbs. Which he would have to drop between football and wrestling.

Quick weight loss leads to muscle loss. That's a simple fact.

Dude, nobody claimed that he needs to drop anything. Only that there is value to at least practicing wrestling to learn different techniques in using your leverage and angles against people, not to mention the hand combat that they will experience in the trenches. Please just drop it, you don't get it man.

Can we all agree to disagree. Wrestling can help make better football players. No need for people to get their jimmies rustled.

Edit: will somebody find the "my jimmies are not rustled" monkey gif? I can't find it anywhere.

I really don't know what's more impressive. Your ignorance, or your arrogance.

Fast Weight Loss May Mean Muscle Loss

I found that one, but I thought this one was MUCH more appropriate :) I think he must be one of those trainers from The Biggest Loser or something and I don't know what he's on about. Nobody even suggested that ANYONE try to lose a bunch of weight or muscle mass. LOL Ridiculous. You and I agree Volamite, wrestling can help make better football players, that's been my point from the beginning.

Depends on where you're wrestling. Some states are up to 285 for high school or even 300 for AAU. Before 1988 it was unlimited. When I graduated from HS in 99 275 was the limit.

You graduated from Seymour in 1999? Did you play baseball/basketball/golf? One of my best friends would have played there and graduated 1997.

My point as well. Wrestling helps period. The previous examples mentioned are great proof. My son wrestled and played high school ball. What you learn in wrestling if you stick with it is invaluable to a football player. There is no valid argument against it that I have ever heard. Most young men are not encouraged to lose large amounts of weight anymore and there are actually restrictions now on how much they can lose right before a match. These are new rules to protect the wrestlers.
