'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

Some of you act like Leb's statements about Gibson playing WR at the next level are completely unfounded and baseless. Many analysts have said he has a higher ceiling at WR and he has voluntarily worked out at WR at many camps. There has also been a lot of speculation that he will play WR instead of QB at his high school this season. It's ok to disagree with Leb, but acting like he is an idiot for thinking TG is going to play WR in college is ignorant.

As stated many times, of course the staff is still "recruiting" QBs. Much the same they would any position in June. Recruiting and actually taking a kid is very different. As of now, you have absolutely 0 proof they will take a 3rd QB. IF they decide to take a 3rd QB and it is confirmed he will play QB by CBJ, I would then be wrong. As of now, obviously I can debate your claims they WILL take 3 as they have not.

Sure

We'll just have to wait and see. It did make me laugh as a few seem to think TG "claiming" he is willing to compete at QB equates to UT is taking 3 QBs, already have, and the commitment is already locked in.

"Your wrong", yet the fact is only 2 QBs are committed. :p

The only speculation he won't be playing qb in HS has come from message board posters like Leb. No analyst has said he has a higher ceiling at wr. Some have said he may end up there but if he can be a qb he will be Mike Vick VT good. They say his ceiling is higher at qb, but his floor is higher at wr. Read the articles instead of listening to guys that are biased on a message board.

You say we will not take 3 qbs. You are wrong. No way you can debate that. Gibson isn't even the only one they are recruiting. We are after Francois also.

The staff always "recruits" players at each position, but they don't always accept commitments at a particular position because of numbers and their own commitment to other recruits who are already on board. They keep recruiting each position in case a commitment changes his mind and goes elsewhere.

Butch would accept Gibson's commitment as a WR, but with Quinten Dormady in the fold, I have doubts he would accept it as a QB.

My wrong? What?

No one said anything about him being a commit. You twist everything when it comes to Gibson. So you think we will not take a commitment from a top 20 player who we are after hard at a position of need? The number one at his position?

Based on what exactly?

You said anyone who said UT was not taking 3 QBs was wrong and UT would take 3. My point was they have NOT taken a 3rd QB and for you to claim anyone wrong at this point makes no sense.

K-town, if you understood recruiting and why players commit, you would know.

Coaches only have so many players that they can sign. With all of our needs and the smallish number of current open slots, Butch can not afford to sign 3 QBs. Not to mention, it is pretty obvious from Dormady's statements that he was informed that when he committed, that he will be the only other QB signed in this class by UT. Butch can not comment on players or anything that refers to hem himself, but the players can speak and Dormady has.

Butch is still recruiting and wants TG, however, you be sure that it will be as a WR.Otherwise he likely loses Dormady and Butch wants his pro-stykle QB to run his pro-style passing attack, manned by a line of future first round playmaking WRs.

Leb, what research did you do to determine that historically Tennessee doesn't sign more than 2 QBs in a recruiting class? I'm just doing some of my own and wondered what kind of information you are basing this argument on.

Thanks!

Honestly I am just going off memory. I can't recall a class over the last 10 or so years where UT took more than 2 QBs. I doubt many schools other than UT have taken 3 in a class. I'm sure it has happened, it's just not common at all. When your looking at a smaller class, it makes even less sense. Last year and a class of 32? Would have made much more sense in that scenario. Oddly enough they could not get 1 in that 32.

If anyone wants to check on how many players a a position that UT has signed in various years, I have a link to Larry's Locker.

This was compiled by LWS himself.

Pretty sure he knows the possibility of TG moving to receiver, he's just saying TG along with Jennings will compete at QB for a period of time. Don't act like some people on here are completely ignorant and can't understand recruiting numbers.

I do understand. You apparently don't. We are in it for a top 15 player we have been recruiting all year and is at the top of our board. No way we don't take him.

So you know better than Butch who is still recruiting qbs? He is still after qbs but can't afford to take one?

Dormady never said Butch told him that. He said he BELIEVES he will be the only qb. Also if you understand recruiting, coaches mislead and lie all the time. He didn't say QD would be the only one. Even if he did he could say whatever to get the commit.

If we get Gibson and it means Dormady decommits I'm sure Butch will still be happy seeing as Gibson is his number 1 target. Dormady was signed in case we don't get any other qb commits or JJ and TG don't work out at qb. All the articles on him signing mention us being desperate for a qb so we couldn't pass him up. None say he is the only qb and we shut qb recruiting down. Not one source has said we are recruiting TG at wr. Every single one says qb.

So you know better than Butch and every single person who covers recruiting? They should have hired you as recruiting coordinator or something.

How is TG the 3rd QB?

Do people really think JJ is a QB? I'm sure he'll get some reps, but the only guy in the class who is definately a QB only is Dormady.

They'll take TG as a QB, just like they're taking JJ as a *wink wink* QB. And then let the best man win. If that's JJ, TG, or QD, so be it. It's not that hard to figure out.

Plus, I don't know how anyone can say this class will be "small". There's ways of opening up room. There will be departures and defections from both the class and our roster.

You find room for athletes like TG.

You are right. I know its possible. If QD wins the job if all three sign we have two elite athletes to try at other positions. I don't see how that is bad.

The we won't or can't take Gibson as a qb crowd are funny though. Every single report has us recruiting him as a qb and we are still recruiting Francois at qb.

They have not one single shred of evidence to say otherwise and think they know more than the coaches and experts.

Can't help but laugh. They make it sound like Jennings will literally take 6 snaps as a UT QB in practice throw the ball 3 times and be moved to defense. IF....IF...he is moved to defense IMO it will be MONTHS down the road after he gets to campus. I doubt he would even be moved till after his 1st year at UT is over, IF he is moved at all.

What are your opinions on this idea:

Worley leads the team this year, Dobbs gets some time as well to become the veteran. Gibson comes in and starts right away because he is well rested from not even playing QB on his own HIGH SCHOOL team next year. Dormady redshirts. Dobbs mentors them both and is a ready to go backup. Gibson leaves early, leaving Dormady with two years to finally showcase his gunslinging ability to our stacked WR core.

Personally, I think this is a win-win scenario for everyone of our QBs here, maybe with the adjustment of maybe Dobbs starting next year if Gibson needs to redshirt to improve.

Gospel to the ears. :whistling:

IF YOU'RE IN AN INSANE ASYLUM!!!!. :scare: :w00t:
