Like I said earlier, what if Peterman wants to transfer? That would open up a spot right there.

I don't look at the roster and say "who can I assume will leave so we can over sign for a position". Peterman has not said anything about leaving that I have seen. Not sure why a "what if" makes sense in his case. IF a kid decides to leave(a la Riley), you then look to fill that spot IF you need a similar position kid. There may be more of a need elsewhere.

Stars don't mean shiit. Alabama found 2 star Rolando McClain and we all know how that turned out. 3 star Travis Stephens makes most 5 star RBs look like indecisive women. You find talent and determine your own stars as a Coach.

There are always exceptions to the rule but that doesn't make it the rule. Look at the percentage of 5* players that get drafted compared to the percentage of 4* and 3* players that do, then get back to me.

So IF we signed Dormady, Gibson and Jennings and all 3 stuck at QB, our depth chart would look something like this

2014

Worley Sr
Dobbs So
Peterman RS So

2015

Dobbs Jr
Peterman RS Jr
Gibson Fr
Dormady Fr
Jennings Fr

2016

Dobbs Sr
Peterman RS Sr
Gibson RS Fr or So
Dormady RS Fr or So
Jennings RS Fr or So

Even if 1 of the 3 transferred that would still leave UT with 4 QBs on scholarship. What's the problem?

Check out Alabama's current QB roster:

11 Alec Morris QB SO 6-3/230 SQ Allen, Texas (Allen)
15 Parker McLeod QB FR 6-3/193 RS Marietta, Ga. (Walton)
10 David Cornwell QB FR 6-5/240 HS Norman, Okla. (Norman North)
6 Blake Sims QB SR 6-0/202 3L Gainesville, Ga. (Gainesville)
18 Cooper Bateman QB FR

And they are going to take a QB in the 2015 class. That would give them 5 QB's on scholarship. I agree with you eazy, I don't see the problem.

When was the last time UT passed on a 5* for a 2* and that 2* turned into an important key to the team?

Moseley last year was a 2* and only offered by Charlotte when CBJ took his commitment. In taking Moseley we passed on kids like Lammons, and DJ Smith who were both 4* kids. Happens all the time.

As I have said before, I seriously doubt our coaches allow *'s to play into who they take at all.

I think you're right, they let skill, talent and potential play into their decisions. Obviously they, along with many other major D1 programs, see those attributes in Gibson. Kind of sad that you don't. Of course you're not a coach and have zero experience at evaluating talent.

For every Rolando McClain, there's a Jameis Winston, Jadeveon Clowney, Sammy Watkins, TJ Yeldon, Ray Drew, Keenan Allen, Marcus Lattimore, Julio Jones, AJ Green, Jarvis Landry ...

And that's just recently.

Gotta spread them out, or we will be relying on taking a Jacob Coker type kid as a transfer.

I never said I did not see those skills in Gibson. Do I see him as a high level QB in our offense? I don't. He can run and he does make plays in space. To me that sounds like a WR more than a QB. As I have mentioned many times, had TG committed before JJ, so be it. I'd have rolled with Gibson and adding Dormady would have been great. I then would have felt either JJ plays S at UT day 1 or he would not be a take. Taking 3 QBs would NEVER be in the cards for me. I put a high value on spreading the QBs out on the roster and in doing so it's less likely to lose multiple QBs to transfer.

Also, Gibson skipping out on the Gruden camp says a lot about his willingness to put in work. Our other two QBs were at the camp, Gibson was not.

I want to see this kid playing WR like he is at the camps. I think Jones sees that also, or we would wait for TG's commitment.

Thanks for reminding me of 5 star Bryce Brown that left UT and was relegated to 4th string at KSU with about 30 yds. total his Senior season. I'm all Vol but Bill Snyder has my respect all day long as a coach.

Skipped out? He didn't have a ride. Damn, some of you people are dense.

So we are not waiting on TG's commitment coach? When did you decide this?
