'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

I would rather take an extra qb. What if Dormady is still hurt? What if he is a bust? That's a waste. You never know. I would rather take the top player at his position and top 15 player than a low rated depth lineman. We won't be passing any highly rated guys up at any position. We will make it work. This argument makes no sense.

I'd point out once again that your reasons to take Gibson as a 3rd QB don't really add up. The coaches have seen Jennings in camp. They saw Dormady in camp these 2 QBs actually showed up and competed. Your "what if's" don't seem to be in play as BOTH are Tennessee commitments. The coaches saw enough to take them.

If UT has a top 5-10 type class come NSD, to take Gibson they would be passing on a highly ranked recruit at another position. IMO it does make sense.

Who says the lineman is lowly rated? We take one guy every year to solve your problems with Dormany. So Butch is going to make up magical scholarships that don't exist?

Our biggest mistake was not taking a QB in 2014.

That's what happens when you stack up QBs the class before. I did not like the idea of even taking 2 this year till Ferguson left. IMO now taking 2 and pointing out you lost Riley may be something 2016 recruits can buy into. Still a risk, but should be workable. Take 3, 2 being projects and 2016 is a lost cause IMO.

Did we not ask someone to gray shirt last year? We would do that to whoever we need the least. You dont think that CBJ can figure it out?

I do not believe there were any GS's last year. Dews was rumored to be, but I don't think he was actually a GS. He went the prep route, or was supposed to.

In hindsight, one of the bigger mistakes was taking Ferguson.

And if TG wants to commit this second they would take him, no doubt. Not sure what your point is.

Still think we're gonna pass on Richmond or Phillips to take TG?

They'll cut some fat off the current commitment list before it ever came down to that. You should know that.

So? Then we could get a top notch QB in 2017. Problem solved.

So just take a long time commitment who you need the "least" and tell him because TG wants in last minute that his options now are GS or hit the bricks. Nice. That should help in building future relationships and classes.

Every recruit we get will not be super highly rated. Whoever is expendable will be asked to gray shirt or look elsewhere. We will not miss on any highly rated guys who want to attend UT.

This all day. I guess there are people in here that think they know more than CBJ and the staff does. CBJ would find a way to get one of the best players in the country in.

I think the bottom line is that TG is a take on every single day of the year, regardless of other recruits or needs. You should never pass on such an elite player, it's absurd to think anyone in our situation would.

I believe most caught on pretty quick when I said, "would you drop Richmond or Phillips" it was making a point not that it would actually happen. My point was the spots have to come from somewhere. A 3rd QB spot would have to come from somewhere. Your sold that CBJ would take TG today as a 3rd QB. I'm not. WR? Maybe. I'm not even sure that would happen today.

So IF we signed Dormady, Gibson and Jennings and all 3 stuck at QB, our depth chart would look something like this

2014

Worley Sr
Dobbs So
Peterman RS So

2015

Dobbs Jr
Peterman RS Jr
Gibson Fr
Dormady Fr
Jennings Fr

2016

Dobbs Sr
Peterman RS Sr
Gibson RS Fr or So
Dormady RS Fr or So
Jennings RS Fr or So

Even if 1 of the 3 transferred that would still leave UT with 4 QBs on scholarship. What's the problem?

If that is not * gazing 101, I'm not sure what is. Whoever is the lowest ranked will be a GS? :eek:lol:

Like I said earlier, what if Peterman wants to transfer? That would open up a spot right there.

I would actually bet my left nut that CBJ would take Gibson as a QB today, tomorrow or NSD. And I cherish my left nut.

I said expendable not lowest ranked. I answered the statement that we would miss out on a highly rated player at another spot for TG. We won't miss out on any highly rated guys. Whoever is expendable will most likely be a lower rated player. Its not rocket science.

Bull****. Alabama has had the #1 class 4 years in a row. In that timeframe they have 2 National Championships and are 46-7 overall.

Stars are not the entire determining factor of success but it's a very large portion of it. If stars didn't matter, no one would be on here talking about recruiting to begin with.

Stars don't mean shiit. Alabama found 2 star Rolando McClain and we all know how that turned out. 3 star Travis Stephens makes most 5 star RBs look like indecisive women. You find talent and determine your own stars as a Coach. 2 star Demariya Mixon will prove my point. Just watch.
