And Preston Williams is not a linebacker. He will be a SDE lining up right next to Gibson. Credit the peanut butter. Speed at ALL positions.
You can put an end to this debate very easily Tux. Provide some proof that Gibson would play WR instead of QB at UT.
Q: Did the coaches tell you if they are recruiting another quarterback for the 2015 class?
A: "They got the [Murfreesboro athlete prospect Jauan] Jennings kid committed earlier, and he's a quarterback as well, but I believe I'm going to be the only quarterback in this class."
You prove to me that he would not.
Bottom line is that I do know a thing or two about how recruiting works and what is said to players to get them to come to a particular school.
I do not believe that Butch is a dishonest recruiter. I believe that he is a straight shooter. Quinten Dormady has said an awful lot in his interviews that makes it sound like he understands that he and JJ are the only players being recruited to play QB.
A QB like Dormady could go play at a lot of places that have nobody to compete with if he wanted and have a real chance to compete for quick playing time. hunk about why he would want to come to school that was recruiting 3 QBs? Seriously. He likely would not commit to a school if they had 3 QBs that a school intended to sign.
I remember when I was recruited and the coaches would sit in the living room and my dad always asked, who else at my position was the coaching staff recruited. They were honest with me. Every school had other prospects that they were recruiting and told us that they were recruiting two players for most positions.Coaches that lie about that have their lies catch up with them in time. I do not see how Dormady would agree to singing anywhere that had 3 QBs set to sign. Forget all of the "I don't anyone who is afraid of competition" talk. Most QBs don't want any part of that. They are okay with competing with another QB in their class, but 3 in one class would not make many top QBs happy.
Next, you consider the style and offensive scheme that your team runs. Ours is the zone read, not the read option that Auburn runs. Tennessee has been recruiting a lot of tall and highly rated WRs who are playmakers. No coach is going to recruit players that take away from the strength of their recruiting. That would be recruiting suicide. TG is not a skilled passer. He does not even play QB in his team's 7 on 7 tournaments. Why is that? It is because 7 on 7 is based on a string passing game and you are not going to run away from anyone in 7 on 7. 7 on 7 is closely related to what our offensive scheme requires in regards to passing skills needed to succeed at UT.
Bottom line is that Butch is not recruiting the next Nick Marshall to run the read option because we don not run the read option, we run the zone read-two distinctly different forms of the spread. Butch is recruiting skilled passers to deliver the ball downfield to his playmakers to make plays, not spend their careers stalk blocking for a running QB. Talk about killing your WR recruiting.
Those who do not understand what I am saying, are merely refusing to see reality and fantasize about UT running the Auburn offense, which is not what we are going to do. It is all about putting 2 + 2 together. When you do that, it is very easy to see what Butch is reciting and why he is doing so.
Remember last season when everyone was critical of Worley never keeping the ball making the zone read play virtually useless? Butch's QB'S have historically been expected to run the ball a fair number of times. Whether Dormady is capable is purely speculative as he's never been a running QB before. It is also purely speculation that Butch will change his offense to utilize more of a pro style QB.
While I don't know for sure, I tell myself at least part of the reason Worley may not have kept it much was we had no other QBs ready to play behind him. Well, a lot of fans thought we did, till they were actually sent in.
tl;dryou prove to me that he would not.

Tux explain how you know so much about how recruiting works in 2014? Because your claims of being recruited back in the day? Or do you have a legitimate connection with someone today? Try to get the connection's name right this time when you name drop.
Small difference, but I hope you see the point. I think Auburn runs something called the Delaware Veer. I remember reading where Mahlzan got his inspiration from.
