I guess if Hart has declared that it will be 2015 before we see a turnaround, then he should go ahead and cut ticket prices and refund donations for 2014, since it's a pointless year.
Dooley was 2 plays away from being 8-4 in his first season. (One even created a new rule.) Around here your point means absolutely squat. Let's stay consistent people...

Agree. that kind of talk shouldnt happen. THIS season is when we should see a turn around.
I was there for the initial Dooley season, especially the Oregon game. Many Vol fans forget, Dooley's way out manned Volunteers had Chip Kelly's vaunted Quack Attack tied at the half. There was a total collapse the 2nd half, but da Vols man up, even when we're down.Dooley was 2 plays away from being 8-4 in his first season. (One even created a new rule.) He was also about three months away from completely severing any and all ties with high school coaches in the state of Tennessee.

And there was a rain delay that sucked the momentum out of the Vols too. When u r the one playing better than u should be that kind of delay hurts. I was at the LSU game in BR, and we went into their house, and a freak error lost it. Instead of fans being happy we held close they got butt hurt we lost. As if we were even suppose to be that close anyway. Also, Jefferson took the first play of the game up the gut what 80 or so yards, and the team still kept their head in it. All I know is that before and after that game the LSU fans respected the guy.
So these little signs r the ones I think of when people say the guy was an incompetent coach. If he were he wouldn't have been able to do any of that. Did he have a bad situation to climb out of...yes..but there were glimpses I saw that told me there was potential once the situation got better. Most think I'm crazy, but I count on that intuition in my professional life. Has done me great there, so I stick to that over a bunch of keyboard coaches.
Anyway, '11 was bad in not staying in the game. All wanted us to stay in the games going into '12. We did that with many games that yr, but many on here were hoping to see us lose to get Gruden so they didn't see any of it.
The newest argument forever on here will be who walked into a worse situation. Imho Dooley by a long shot. CBJ just followed up 1 coach, and just having to fix up the football program. With breaking in a new bldg that Dooley had to spend time on, and just sell the blueprints for. Dooley had to help clean up yrs and yrs of bad mismanagement in the AD as a whole not just the football program. That's where so many miss on my argument. Kiffin blew up the popsicle stand, and it was a few yrs after a national economic collapse too. Way different situations, and CBJ is fully benefiting from Dooley being the stop gap coach.
Anyway, having a new AD come in the 2nd year wasn't helpful for Dooley. Imo Hart doesn't do what is best for UT, because he cares about what's best for UT first, but he wants/needs it to do well cause it's best for him. This is why I'm in the camp that if CBJ doesn't end up cutting it..whenever yrs from now...both Hart and him will need to go at the same time. Hire a new AD, and have him bring in his guy from the get go. Not having a new guy trying to figure a way to get rid of the guy he inherited to make his mark.
All imho that's all...
