'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

I follow the draft closely every year (as it relates to the Titans, mostly), and Mettenberger was rising up the boards late. Many analysts had him going in the 2nd Rd.

Problem was, he had/has ongoing back issues....so, he fell, like Tiny, because of health reasons, alone. Now that we have moved on from TG, I'd like to see him go to LSU, so he can whoop up on Bama every year (hopefully). Auburn really doesn't need him much, in that run-heavy offense.

Back injury wasn't the sole reason Mettenberger fell. First is the torn ACL he is still recovering from, plus his off-field concerns (he was dismissed from UGA for sexual assault), and lastly, he is a virtual statue in the pocket with little to no mobility.

Anyone who thinks UT has "moved on" from Gibson is not thinking clearly about the situation. Every school currently leading for TG already has 1 or more good QB's committed.

Gibson is confident in his ability and any additional QB competition will not be something that causes him to change his mind, he said as much after tOSU had another QB commit recently. In terms of the roster, even with the Dormady commitment, UT is still a more appealing choice than any of his other top schools.

UT will not stop chasing him and if he wants to be a Vol there will be no hesitation in accepting his commitment.

They have their 2 QB's in this class. It's nothing but wishful thinking to say we aren't done. Just like all the Gruden Smoke Screen BS after Jones was hired.

You can stick a fork in the recruitment of TG. It's done. He had his chance...the door closed. End of story.

I think that's the only way we continue to recruit TG now...as a WR. That's what OSU is apparently recruiting him to play. For some reason I have this gut feeling that his HS coach ends up pushing him to Miami.

The only scenario where TG settles for us is the one where Auburn AND tOSU decide he can't play QB for them...even then, UCF would be very attractive and a place he could start immediately. Butch now has two super prospects at the all important signalcaller position, he can tailor the rest of his class to overall talent and depth...especially on the lines!

I'm sorry, but that's crazy. If it is indeed done it's not because we refuse to accept his commitment. Let's not go overboard.

TG's an amazing athlete. Reminds of Cordarelle Patterson. CP was a 1st round pick and All-Pro as a rookie. Never took a snap at UT.

If TG's mechanics improve, and they surely might if coached up, he'll get a shot at QB. If not, he gives UT an extra dimension in the running attack (see Auburn 2013). TG can't be any worse a passer than Braxton Miller, Terrelle Pryor or Tim Tebow. And if UT has a great passing QB, TG's gets rich playing WR.

It's a no lose situation for TG and UT, and the upside for both is huge.

Vol Lock.

Not sure why people keep claiming all the schools TG was considering in his top group all have a QB committed for this class.

LSU and Oklahoma currently do not have QBs committed for the 2015 class.

Gibson will not be a QB at Tennessee if he does sign here.

LBV he is not really considering LSU and OU. His top schools all have commits at qb and he already knew that would be the case.

To the others he is still the number one qb target. A qb commit from someone lower on the board will not change that. He will end up here or AU who also has qb commits. This is not over as much as you may want it to be.

Or,
The staff tries to take a 3rd QB in this class and in doing so either Jennings, Dormady or both walk. THEN there is the chance that Gibson never actually pans out at QB and when the staff tries to move him to WR, he transfers closer to home.

Gibson is headed elsewhere IMO.

So Gibson told you his top 7 was really a top 3 and he's not considering them all? Interesting.

You let them. TG has a more potential and talent than both. Its a reason he is so highly pursued and rated. CBJ took Dormady because he is good and also since TG is not ready to commit. If he was Dormady may not have even gotten an offer. When Tg is ready and if he wants to come here he will. If one walks away its because they are scared of TG and don't want to compete. If so we don't need them anyway. Let the best man win. If QD is so good he will beat TG out for the job. No qb is guaranteed to pan out. Tg has the best chance to be special.

Thanks for the confirmation Coach Jones.

You have Jauan Jennings playing QB at UT?

Dormady is an EE if Gibson's timeline breaks down the way he has planned it, it will not matter. I think Jennings is a Vol either way. I just don't see him being scared of competition.

So if you were the coach Dormady would be well advised to ask if you planned on adding a 3rd QB to the class.

I really was trying very hard not to respond in this thread.

This post is about the biggest uniformed piece of crap I have read in a very long time, yet you were able to spew every bit of this like you are actually sitting in the war room discussing this with the coaches and it is all a fact.

Here is my OPINION. I don't care how good of a QB TG is suppose to be. We have two good QB's in the fold and do not need a third. He missed the boat on that. If he wants to come here.....and the coaches think we need another WR......or maybe they think they can turn him into a DB.....then fine. Otherwise he needs to move on.

Besides....I called Dormady to UT a couple of weeks ago....so I win.
