For some reason, this makes me happier than any of our other players that went to the league this year. I'm proud of this guy.

I think we're just outside the top 40. In an ESPN video from April 9, he has 8 SEC teams in the Top 25, and the Vols are not one of those. He has Alabama #2, Auburn #4, SCAR #10, UGA #11, LSU #13, Mizzu #18, Texas A&M #19, Ole Miss #20. I'd guess we won't make it above FL...

I think these are two different things. In the ESPN video I think what he's projecting is what the AP writers will publish as their preseason top 25. He apparently has them nailed based on their predictability. His own list is what he is now working through in the countdown. I'd be "a bit" surprised too if we made it above FL.

Last year 9 of the AP Preseason top 25 teams failed to make the AP Postseason top 25 (UGA, FL, TX, MI, NE, Boise, TCU, NW, & Oregon St.). Their replacements for the Postseason rankings were (AU, Mich St, MO, UCF, Baylor, AZ St, Duke, Vandy, & Washington). Only 4 teams in the AP Preseason top 10 made the Postseason top 10 and the AP Preseason missed on every single top 5 team.

As to Phil, well as someone else posted, he likes us. Last year he listed us as his #11 most favorite team. There could be a slight Orange tint to his glasses:

11. Tennessee-The Volunteers made this list last year but disappointed me. However, they make the list again this year despite having a new coach in Butch Jones. Most publications look at who is returning at quarterback, running back and wide receiver and if you solely based your projections on that then the Volunteers would be in trouble this year. However, I like the fact that they have one of the better offensive lines in the country as they return 123 career starts and they also have a solid DL led by Daniel McCullers. I picked the Vols to finish 4th in the SEC East while every other preseason publication picked them 5th or lower. After missing out on postseason play each of the last two years, look for the Volunteers to be back in a bowl this year.

He posted a graphic on his blog last fall showing how well he did in predicting the AP Preseason top 25 for the 2013 season.

That is awesome. One year ago today, there was no chance he would make the NFL.

Now he's about to make some big bucks, even if it's only for a few years. Hopefully he'll have a long career there, but if not, he can always say he made it to the league.

Good for Palarady.

Butch Jones turned him from a guy who could hit extra points and Coached him up to making a NFL Roster.

That makes two of us. He received a ton of bashing through his UT career and lived up to his potential in his last year. Hope he has a lengthy and great career!

All you twitter tweeters should congratulate him and show him the love that you show kids that have not played one down for the Vols yet. Just sayin...

Look at the scores from some of the games we lost that year:

Georgia: 44-51, L
Mississippi State: 31-41, L
South Carolina: 35-38, L
Missouri: 48-51, L

With even an average D, all four of those could easily have been Ws. The UF game probably would have been a W as well, and the Vandy abomination would have never happened. Only definite loss would have been to Bama.

It would have been a great season, but it almost certainly would have bought Dooley a lot more time. Hell, he might still be head coach and referring to this as "year zero" again.

It's sickening In one aspect and a blessing in another. Just imagine if we had won those games. The success would have been short lived and we would still have doofus and sal.
