US Soldier Bowe Berghdahl freed from Taliban in prisoner exchange

I am looking but haven't found anything yet. I swear I heard that last weekend. Maybe I misunderstood. I do know there are plenty of reports that Congress was told of the possibility of a trade of Gitmo-hled Taliban for Bergdahl for some time. Now I'm not sure about the names, though.

Obozo is on a roll:

Exposed a CIA Chief and trading 5 terrorist for a deserter all in a weeks time. Great job dumbass! I'm sure this isn't the icing on the cake either, there's more to come.

Who else but you would defend something like this?

Try actually looking at it objectively for a change...

I mean when your first reaction is to shriek like a little girl, claim it's a GOP fundraising plot and ignore facts, it's hard to be objective.

Well, as long as you swear you heard it last weekend. It's fine. Your years of reasonable and thoughtful posting have earned you some credit around here.

I would dump every like I have for the next week on this if I could.

Given all the angles and issues, I think reasonable people would want to understand the facts a lot better before conclusively judging the decision.

So that leaves you out.

It's been my experience that the phrase "I think reasonable people would..." generally precedes an agenda-driven statement. It's no surprise that this one did also.

LOL, I'm saying I may be wrong about that part. Sue me.

Rather than sue, how about this. I'm coming to worship the mouse soon. How bout I drop the kids off with you for a couple days?

If I flat made it up that I heard that on the shows over the weekend, why would I readily admit I must have misunderstood what was being said?

Sheesz, at least I admit it here when my facts are wrong.

As a percentage of what we both earn, he pays a mere fraction of what I pay.

Okay, so if you paid:

$3.2 million in taxes

AND

gave $7 million to charity. You probably have a right to complain...

Did you give away $10.2 million last year?

Maybe because a misunderstanding is easier to cop to than an outright lie?

You're a lawyer. You should be familiar with that kind of stuff.

Oh you silly goose, don't make me spit out my coffee this early in the morning.

To be precise, 3.2 was confiscated. 7 was given.

So we had our guy before we let the enemy go. Why not just snatch him up and renege?

The Taliban handed Bergdahl over to special operations forces in eastern Afghanistan, and later in the day the detainees were flown from the Guantanamo detention center to Qatar.

There are other Americans being held?

"He’s been held by the Taliban — we don’t know under what circumstances — for five years. As far as we know, he was not held with any other Americans," he said.

I would assume you have an inner track on something the rest of us are missing?

Maybe not an inner track, but I've known Nate since 2007. He is a good guy, but let's just say he has an active imagination. Good thing for him, he is getting a masters in creative writing. But, there is a reason Nate is not explicitly making hard assertions as to why exactly those soldiers died and why exactly those units were patrolling the local villages more...around elections.

Moreover, it is not some secret that in June and July, when the temperatures increase, Taliban and al Qaeda activity increase. This 'flurry' of activity in their AO is, in some sense, contributed to the Bergdahl situation, but in another sense it is just contributed to the season and the elections.

Basically, setting up IED and RPG ambushes on US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is not difficult (sustaining the fight is difficult), and with all the meetings between key leaders taking place in villages and towns, it is fairly easy to know when the Americans are coming and where they are coming to...especially when these meetings increase exponentially in preparation for elections.
