I'm pretty sure when asked Butch Jones has said ideally he would like to see the offense running about 90 plays a game.

Going back and looking at last year, Tennessee ran over 60 plays in almost every game. They ran over 70 in several games. With another year in the system, I'd expect them to be more comfortable going faster. JMO

The easiest way for us to run more plays is to stay on the field for longer drives.

Actually I'm not and I'm sorry you feel that way

Earlier in this thread some vol fans gave me a bad time cause I called this a little trolling guy because he would not admit cam got money because the NCAA said it was all good. Of course that guy at NCAA works for them now. He is showing his true troll anus form now.

....kooky.

The thought of a grown man sending friend requests and notes like that to a high school kid is just creepy.

As for a decision that was once planned for signing day, he said that too could change.

“I might have to shorten it up,” Gibson said. “I don’t know yet. “We’re going to see soon.”

I never mentioned throwing it 40 times a game. I mentioned 30-35 passes a game IMO would be ideal. Well over 1/2 the games in 2013 our QBs threw more than 25 passes in a game. 30-35 with our new WRs/TEs and trying to play faster to me makes sense.

Once again I went back to see if I was crazy or not. In 2011 and 2012 while at Cinci CBJ's offense threw the ball about 31 times a game and ran it about 39 times a game.

This.

Butch's history indicates starting at half of the time, then increasing the running game 5% or so a year until it hits 60% run/40% pass. I wish Vol fans would understand that. The thing that could keep it closer to 50% is to have both the great passer and the great receivers at the same time. But he will always favor the run. For that I am quite happy.

Sunday afternoon, Gibson sent 247Sports this direct message on Twitter: "Auburn is my leader but they both still share the #1 spot."

Asked to clarify if that meant the Tigers now held a slight edge over the Vols, he replied, "Yes."

I thought having an edge over someone meant that you are in the lead... since win is leading considered tying?

A lot of AU fans were betting the barn that he would commit on his visit. They showed him a lot of love and he acknowledged that with his response. At least he has the manners to eat their cooking and not spit it in their face and tell them it sucks.

AUfan, this one's a Vol.

So why not after his senior season and a RS year wouldn't Gibson be a guy who slings it 20-25 times a game? Are you just assuming that Gibson would not like to pass more?

Balance is the key, you need to able to do both. If the defense knows and respects that you can run and pass, that's what you want. You don't want to be throwing because you can't run, is what I am getting at. A legit running threat only makes the passing game better. GO VOLS!!!

He very well may be, it's going to be a battle

Jim Chaney be like.... fly pattern right, deep curl left, there's your balance. Hard to argue it the results though.

TG may want to throw it 40 times a game. It's just my feeling that it would lead to a lot of incomplete passes.

There are other QBs on the board I like better than TG. If I looked, I'm sure there would be a lot more. I respect that you like the kid so much BOT, but I won't be changing my mind.

The kid ends up a Vol, I'll give it a boom. If he wants to wear the Orange, I'll hope he does well.

Yes I like Gibson, but the main reason is that the coaching staff thinks so highly of him. I trust CBJ and our coaching staff. If they think Gibson is the best QB to lead us to wins, then I am all in. If they change their mind and think someone else is the man, then I am fine with that.

Tee Martin threw a lot of incomplete passes so what's your point? I just don't understand why you come into this thread and talk negatively about Gibson.

Didn't Tee Martin complete 26 in a row?

You asked me a direct question in this thread. I answered it. :dunno:

I find it funny how these rival fans come join and post on a TN board after they beat us an have a nice season. Where were you year before last?

Many thought/think TW was/is just a benevolent, rival poster that brought good info to the board when I (and a few others) saw right through his trolling was. You are a very similar poster. SCtiger I can tolerate, you not so much.

TG is a carbon copy of a Malzahn QB. Run 1st option QB with the ability to hit an occasional pass and even on a pass play possibly take off instead. If he chose AU I would totally understand and maybe even he knows its a better fit because we throw it closer to 50/50. I think there's a better fit for us out there.
