If Auburn does, in fact, sign Torrance Gibson, Gus Malzahn will completely tailor the offense to Gibson's strengths, just like he did with Nick Marshall, and probably have great success with it. That is one thing I really admire about Malzahn. He is alot like Chip Kelly in that he doesn't have to have EVERY LITTLE PIECE in place to make his teams win at a high level. Quite different than what we've seen in Knoxville over the last 7-8 years.

Gabe Wright was on Dooley, Lawson was your commit for a year before Butch was hired and Harrell wasn't a take. Bad examples.

Eh, not really. You can't say that they're bad examples just because they're from pre-Butch days. The claim being responded to was that Auburn has been beating us for recruits lately. Unless you're arbitrarily defining lately as "the last 16 months" then they are (except for Harrell) good examples.

Sutton was a UT commit before we came on hard as was McDowell so those weren't the greatest examples either. Got beat for Blair. Honestly, other people don't need to be affected because of this convo that has nothing to do with Gibson. I'll stop posting about all of it.

I'm pretty sure when asked Butch Jones has said ideally he would like to see the offense running about 90 plays a game.

Going back and looking at last year, Tennessee ran over 60 plays in almost every game. They ran over 70 in several games. With another year in the system, I'd expect them to be more comfortable going faster. JMO

Yet we didnt pass it nearly as much as you are talking about if we are basing stuff off of last yr? I highly doubt u will ever see us run 90 plays. Stats prove that Jones likes to run the ball. If he has a stable of RBs, hes going to run more than he passes. Our QB doesn't need to throw 40 times a game...this isnt Texas Tech. There are 3 things that can happen on a pass play and 2 are bad, so why would you take the risk of throwing that much?

Exactly. And that's the point, Auburn wins some, UT wins some. This idea that Auburn beats UT all the time for recruits isn't true. It's fabricated from pessimistic whiny Vol fans.

I never mentioned throwing it 40 times a game. I mentioned 30-35 passes a game IMO would be ideal. Well over 1/2 the games in 2013 our QBs threw more than 25 passes in a game. 30-35 with our new WRs/TEs and trying to play faster to me makes sense.

Once again I went back to see if I was crazy or not. In 2011 and 2012 while at Cinci CBJ's offense threw the ball about 31 times a game and ran it about 39 times a game.

Classic example of an Auburn fan acting a certain way to get you guys to believe he's over here to buddy up to a rival fanbase, only to make condescending comments and trivialize some of the advantages we have working for us. If you really believe an 18 year old kid isn't impressed by a guy who is all over ESPN doing QB evaluations then you don't have your finger on the pulse of teenagers. And what do you mean by a staff and a scheme thing? Do you even know what scheme Butch Jones and his staff runs? It's the read option, which is a perfect style of offense to fit a QB like Torrance Gibson's strengths. You're so arrogant to think only Auburn would be a good fit for this kid. When in reality if it wasn't for paying players to be there, burying failing grades, and hiding index 1 crimes stemming from illegal drugs, Auburn would be irrelevant. Much like the state it resides in.

Auburn version of Tide water.

....kooky.

To all of you saying this, the fact that we are anywhere near the top of this kid's list is a lot more suspicious than a national title game team with an offense created exactly for his skill set.

Yeah it's not like AU ever offered a QB money to play at their school. Oh wait....

I think if Gibson chooses us CBJ will tailor the offense to him as well.

Auburn has a slight lead on us after making up a ton of ground during Big Kitty Weekend? I still like where Butch is at with TG. AU usually gets big commitments out of this weekend, so as long as TG is still uncommitted, I'm not too worried. Bottom line is that Butch WILL land another top rate QB this cycle, whether it is Gibson or someone else.
