Anybody that signed up to play for Derek Dooley after his first two seasons at UT really wasnt a good QB. I dont care how many stars were by his name.
Ferguson wasnt picked to play for a better team. That was clue number 1. Clearly he came to Tennessee because he saw it as his best chance to start for an SEC program that was a dumpster fire. He never wanted to be here and when he realized how bad it was going to be for him, he bolted (or was told to pound sand).
I'm pretty sure CBJ didnt really want Ferguson on his team... ever, but as a first year coach just trying to survive and pick up the pieces of the Derek Dooley debacle, how could he refuse any player that had even the potential to play. Explains why CBJ ran as quick as he could to get Dobbs to flip his commitment at the last second. I think he knew how bad it was gonna be relying just on Worley and how Ferguson's attitude was.
Now, it's beyond me that CBJ was not more forward about this from the beginning. I dont think he "owed" me any answers as a fan, but at the same time he could have ended a lot of speculation about Ferguson a long long time ago. CBJ may be hard nosed with the players, but I think he's a bit of a sunshine pumper when it comes to his interactions with the media and public.
This whole handling of the QBs over the last year just reeks. And I mean that from all perspectives (the players, the coaches, the media). A little honesty could have made things much better, even if we didnt want to hear the truth.
