Riley Ferguson appears to be gone

I am more surprised that CBJ actually kept these 4 for this long. Thats alot of guys trying to earn the top QB spot, something HAD to give.

.

The biggest relief is that now our coaches can really focus on Worley and Dobbs and getting them game ready. That whole QB competition was a headache.

Butch "said" that they had 4 QBs competing for the job.

I agree with both of you......& I'm proud of it.

Sure. I've always said Worley would be named the starter, both this year and last. It's a no-brainer of a call for Jones, too. I just don't understand the "I have to play now" mentality. Worley's done after this season and by all accounts the job probably would have been Ferguson's for the taking. That's 3 more years of eligibility. Plenty of time.

the problem was would he work hard enough to take it?? Would he work up to the staff's expectations or would he rather go elsewhere where he doesn't have to work as hard??

I agree, but it is because I am not sold on Butch yet. He can recruit and organize, but I still do not see evidence of good coaching on game day.

it is difficult to be a good coach on game day if over matched with players. Our talent has not been close to the competition in CBJs first year. Same problem this year..

I realize sjt will disagree. :)

We do not have a QB that has the "it" factor. Worley will QB this year. Ferg was basically the freshman QB since we didn't recruit one. I don't know if Ferguson would beat out Dobbs but it would be better to see them compete than just knowing Dobbs is next. My two cents.

A bit off topic, but it will be interesting to see what happens if Ferg decides to go the UTC route. The QB there is the son of the HC and was the SoCon offensive player of the year. Riley may very well be more talented, but the incumbent QB is a clear leader of the team and is not too shabby of a player himself.

The best part about Ferguson for most on this board was the fact that they hadn't seen him play yet and their imagination could run wild with all the rampant speculation that he would be our savior incarnate.

It reminds of when Episode I was coming out and I only loved it because I hadn't seen it yet.

I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being disappointed. This guy was my favorite of all the QB's. But as they say, if you don't wanna be here, kick rocks

UNC-Charlotte is likely landing spot for RF

Losing depth at QB with the depth we have there is bad regardless who it is.

I don't think he is interested in sitting out a transfer year.

doubt Cut would take him if he wanted to go to Duke

Assuming that Riley wanted to go to Duke and Coach Cutt would take him, sitting out the transfer year would be well worth the knowledge and teaching that Coach Cutt would provide. IMO of course.

We all saw it coming but I thought it would be Peterman

If that were the case Peterman would have left a while ago. Riley had more of a reason to transfer now because he's still very early in what could be a possible QB career. If his talent turns out to be as promising as some people want it to be then he has every reason to transfer now instead of waiting.

Hinted to it on show today that Riley wasn't good at embracing the process and having patience to earn that QB spot. Wish him the best

Riley Ferguson wanted to be close home. I anticipate him going to Charlotte. He was a couple consistent practices away from being starter

if he would be willing to put out the effort. Cut is one tough task master, especially with QBs. Lot of time required and that is part of reason he was not cutting it here
