Maybe this is just a one-off thing. This is his coach last week:

“Torrance is doing an awesome job as a quarterback. He’s become the leader that we needed him to become,” Rumph said of the 6-foot-4, dual-threat QB that has reeled in 20-plus offers. “He’s athletically off the charts and does a lot of good things well with his arm, and we’re just trying to continue to help him improve off of last year understanding that we did good but we can do even better."

Sounds like the kid lost his temper at a teammate, and maybe beat the snot out of him. Kid threatened to press charges, however, now is cooling down, and Torrance needed to step away from the team for a bit to just "figure things out."

These things happen. Could be a lot of things. Don't know. Don't care. Coaches will figure out the truth, and deal accordingly. If he's our QB, awesome. If he pulls this stuff at UT, then he won't be our QB. Simple. He'll control his own fate, but Butch won't put up with that crap no matter how good you are.

I do hope everything turns out okay with him though.

Andy Slater is standing by his story that altercation was with a teacher. From the twitter back and forth between Slater and Josh Darrow, it seems both guys agree that the "altercation" was a verbal one not a physical one (who the altercation involved was the point of contention)

If its just a verbal altercation with a teacher or a fight with a co-player I'm not concerned when I was a teenager I got into a little trouble and a small majority of people think I turned out okay.

Now that being sad if It was a physical fight with a teacher that's not good period. That to me shows a real character issue.

The fact that he was not only suspended but also told to not attend the game as a spectator seems a little odd. On the outside looking in, that seems that whatever occurred was pretty bad.

Or their coach wants to send a strong message for him to pull his crap together. This is still a kid we're talking about.

Maybe they just want to keep them separate this soon after so they don't fight again.

It's pretty common to try to separate two people that are at odds. It happened to my brother years ago. Kid was picking on him and making false accusations (that we're very serious and inappropriate) and the school wouldn't let the kid attend any functions for a couple of weeks. I think they were more worried about my brother snapping and curb-stomping him though, haha.

Maybe we should set up an "Altercation Duel" between Slater and Darrow with the loser having to leave the business and start selling used cars.

No, this means a 17 year old, competitive teenager had a heated argument with a teammate, student or possibly coach that got out of hand, and he is being disciplined accordingly. Vol.

Not exactly that's pretty standard when you get suspended from school. A suspension from school is also a suspension from school activities. Its like when you get ejected from a ball game you have to leave the arena.

This is just a situation that Mr. Gibson has the opportunity to learn and grow from. We all made mistakes as teenagers and young men. I'm sure his coach will keep the UT coaches informed of the situation and his progress working through it.
