It's pretty obvious the staff is going to take a 2nd QB this class. They continue to evaluate and offer more QB's.

They're not passing on Francois.

You never mentioned walk-on. That would be incredible for a walk-on pull. He'll have some lower D-1 offers that are commitable.

I have been saying for a while I felt he would walk-on.

I agree he will probably have some scholarship options closer to NSD. Especially if he does play this year in NC. Depending on what offers come, he may still decide to be a Vol. I think he likes Tennessee that much.

Seems risky when we haven't got a "sure thing" QB on campus or committed

Dobbs and Ferguson IMO will be the QBs taking 1st/2nd team reps for the next couple years IMO. I thought Gentry MAY be able to get in the discussion had we got him. I don't think there is a QB left on the board who would beat out the 2 on campus wit them having multiple years in the system. Jennings will need time to develop. The 2 on campus will allow that to happen. IMO focusing on the 2016 QBs now would be the move.

If Williams wants to walk-on I think you let him walk-on no matter how many QBs we have or don't have. It's a walk-on. Come on. However, I don't think we should be so quick to dismiss Gibson at the first breath of an off field issue. I haven't heard of any personality issues leading up to this, and I'm quite sure he's still super good.

I don't know all the facts, like most of us, but a situation like this could definitely change things. I don't mean change things in that he would be passed on. I mean it could effect his commitment time-table. Something like this could be used as a tool to press a commitment from him.

Very true.

worst decision I ever made was walking on at UT because I loved it so much when I had multiple scholarship offers from smaller schools.

I like Gibson. He's going through a process that not many teenagers will go through and not many can understand the pressure or stress it could create. There's no telling how a 16-17 year old kid will respond to this sort of constant pressure and any mistakes they make shouldn't automatically be considered permanent character flaws.

This could be a defining situation, but if he has the right people around him and he's able to take good advice and direction, this could turn out to be a very important step in improving his personality, responsibility, and decision making process.

If he handles this the right way, it will show a lot of good character and could potentially make him even more desirable.

They aren't passing on Gibson. In fact things seem to be sounding better there every single day. I wont be surprised if he makes a decision in the next month or so. This class would blow up immediately as well IMO.

I'm curious to know how walk-on Devin Smith will progress. When he was a sophomore/junior in HS, it looked like he was going to be a prospect coveted by several D-1 schools.

I could definitely see that happening. Gibson knows the staff wants another QB commit this summer, they're not waiting until December. If he wants to be a Vol he better commit soon and it wouldn't surprise me if he did just that.

I think he realizes that as well. I know from OSU's side of things they are starting to get to the point of saying things like "dont be surprised if he's off the board sooner rather than later". And that is unusual coming from them.
