Taking 2 QBs in a class plays into how kids in the next class view the situation. As I said, people were swearing that taking Dobbs and Ferguson would not hurt us getting a top guy the following year. The staff struggled big time to even get kids to consider UT. They did everything but send in a navy seal team to take Jalen McClendon hostage and could not even get him to visit. He picked ncstate. Take 2 in 2015 and I would not be surprised at all to see them struggle again in 2016.

I don't think McClendon saw the Malone full court press but your point was proven by the fact that he was our only semi realistic option. I lol'd at the seal reference

Jennings is not a viable option at QB. We need TG!! With that said CBJ cannot wait until NSD for a committ. With the stud WRs we have need a QB that can get them the ball.

So TG is the answer to get our WRs the ball but Jennings is not even a viable option? lol TG is not a pro style passing wizard, he's just an all around amazing athlete, much like Jennings.

I like Jennings a lot and I like T. Gibson - would love to see him in UT orange... but if we can't get a great QB in this class, I'd say hold off this year and if there is any way we get Eason to Knoxville, I'd take him and shut it down with anyone else next year.

Serious Question, Why?

I feel confident with what we have in Ferguson and Dobbs. A 2015 QB could be looking at sitting for 2-3 years while those 2 fight it out for #1 and #2. Could a 2015 guy take the starting spot? Maybe. There is much less a chance of that happening with the QBs still on the board IMO. I though Gentry MIGHT have a shot by 2016, but I honestly think the UT QB for the next 2-3 years is already on campus. Worley wins the starting spot and one of Dobbs/Fergs starts talking transfer, of course that changes things. I don't think it happens though.

Jennings as the QB and Williams as the walk-on and I'd focus on 2016. Austin Kendall is the kid I'd like to see them lock up early.

So you still think either Dobbs or Ferg is going to start this season?

There is no chance either of them start ahead of Worley. #2 is Dobbs.

I would be more inclined to agree with you if Gibson wasn't such a special talent. Especially if he improves in his senior season. I think wherever TG goes he will RS. As a RS sophomore I could see. Gibson easily beating out Dobbs or RF. I believe he is that talented. We are not talking about just another run of the mill QB here. Why do you think CBJ is recruiting him so hard? We don't need him at WR.

Getting elite QBs every couple of years is a good thing. Kendall should not be scared of competition. If we land TG then Kendall should not see that as a threat. Getting elite QBs also helps with getting other big time recruits. If CBJ thinks that the situation you propose is the right one, then I am all for it. But until it comes out that CBJ has decided to pass on TG, I am going to stick with my theory that we need an elite QB.

Dobbs had a rough spring other than the O&W game. Fumbling problems and inconsistency issues.

Riley had the better overall spring but had a bad showing at the O&W game.

The coaches will look at the entire body of work and not just the O&W game.

I am of the minority that thinks Dobbs will redshirt. I think Worley starts and Ferguson gets garbage time reps. Thatll give Dobbs an extra year of eligibility. Thatll build future depth. Worley will be gone after this season and Peterman will likely transfer out after the season. Thatll leave Dobbs, Ferguson and the incoming freshmen

I agree. I've thought for a while that Fergs will be our #2, allowing Dobbs to RS.
