TOS posters saying defection rumors legit

Recruiting was under his control. You can keep supporting him all you want. It's laughable, but keep on

What about recruiting? Players wanting to leave in the midst of a coaching change isn't an issue concerning the former coach.

You keep acting like I'm cheering for Cal. That's laughable.

Ok, guess that's right. But players must sit out a year at any school unless given a release with no restrictions? Or can the release limit the schools for which a player be placed on scholarship?

The player has to sit out regardless of what their previous school restricts, that's a NCAA rule. The only way around it is to either graduate, or get a hardship waiver.

The school can restrict what schools you're allowed to transfer to, like in this case you would probably see Tyndall say no SEC schools and no schools on our OOC schedule. If they wanted to go to one of the schools that was restricted they would either have to 1. Pay their own way 2. Go to JUCO where they could be on scholarship and then transfer to the school they choose.

Good call, bad example lol. It happens all the time though, if we would've landed Ronnie Johnson it would've been the same thing.

Transfer rules are a mess so kudos to you for trying to help make sense of it for others. I just pointed out the Maymon thing because I remember us all debating it the year he sat out for his knee.

Yea that was a mental lapse on my part lol, all this junk starts running together

Not much on TOS is legit. It is so full of trolls and immature people I don't put much into anything I read over there. Most are "jokers" who try to make a splice with posts and then say "it was a joke" etc. Oh, I'm sorry, just kidding.

Hey, let's all trash our players because of some unsubstantiated rumors. Those guys suck!

I think it's considered "pre-trashing" actually. Kinda like "here's what you'll get IF you fail to meet our standards. Just letting him know to stay put our face the almighty wrath of VN. A bit like cousin Vinnie taking you by the river explaining how deep and cold it is this time of year. That's all.

So CDT could be royally screwed before ever coaching a game for UT. Wow, you reach a point where you think, "Well, things can't get any worse" and then rumors like this begin to appear. It'll suck if true. Hopefully it's just a bunch of bs.

I learned something a long time ago. In general, for Vol fans, if it is possible to receive a nutkick, we generally get said nutkick. I know nothing about these rumors, just hope they're not true. Still, I am cringing as I read.

If, as Pdogg, who actually seems to have good sources, has said, Thompson doesn't want a coach that yells in his face, well, good luck out there in life DT. Some people can't handle basic training and wash out too. We're all made differently I guess.

Everyone sits 1 year barring hardship.

A player can't speak to any other schools pre-release without written permission from the athletic director.

Players can be granted full release or limited release. Full release means you can go anywhere and be placed on scholarship. Limited means schools can be excluded. If you choose to go to a school that you haven't been given permission to go to, you have to pay your way for a year. If you go to a school where you've been given permission to contact and attend, you can be placed on scholarship immediately.

What evidence do we have that our team was soft last year?

Physically we were much bigger and stronger than every other team we played.
Mentally, I mean just watch the Michigan game, nothing weak about nearly coming back from a 20 point 2nd half deficit, these guys are fighters.

This is just the typical VN BS nothing to see here, just move along

for the vast majority of our games in a 2.5 yr span and until the great run, we were soft. Mentally and physically. We didn't push people around. We didn't dominate teams we should. We didn't impose our will. And we had no killer instinct. If you play like with the assets I listed, you are stronger than your opponent, mentally and physically, when it comes to basketball.
What was CM's record in tight games? And you want to argue that mentally tough teams have that kind of crappy record of closing out opponents? Many of which you have overmatched.

But I am old and reminded of it often, so maybe mentally tough and tough on the court mean something different nowadays.

Good points and especially on the front end of the schedule.

they became mentally tough when they made the run and started running people out of the gym. It matters not really to me who you play when you are blowing out people.
Besides that, they were too often timid, passive or unsure and that's not a sign of a tough team.
Fortunately, jrich is one of the toughest kids that's been around and plays strong when he's involved in the game. Goes to the rim strong everytime he is given a chance, and I like that.

I'd be disappointed if DT does but whatever. He was a 2 pt 2 asst player last year who's development and game was held back by his coach, and who's game would flourish with picks sent his way to create.

Yeah, but he's got to work on his perimeter game big time. Hate to see him go, but if he's xferring this would be the best at this point in his career.

@withrowzone: Women's BB coach at Cumberland. Men's coach is Darius's dad.-> RT @TheCoachLew: Thompson, Hubbs, Davis all have requested release from UT.

So we'll have about 5 guys on scholarship next year, the rest of the team will be from UT intramural?

Wasn't the point.

As much as I did not think CCM was a great coach, he in NO WAY even is close to comparing to Dooley and his arrogance CDD was one of the most horrendous coaches to ever grace the planet. Dooley's coaching was just on a level so low that we will never see anything like it again. He was worse than Faust.

By the way,

BTO and I have not always seen eye to eye on his defense of CCM but it holds way more weight than anyone could generate defending Dooley.

Also, BTO thanks for a lot of the info you have brought in here lately. It is noticed. :hi:
