The move to WR isn't a big deal to me, he played WR the yr before in 7 on 7s too. if the guy isn't allowed to scramble he's not nearly as effective, but he could dominate the 7 on 7's at WR. His best asset is his ability to scramble. He played well enough at QB to lead his team to a State championship in the regular season and that's enough for me. I thought he threw a nice deep ball in his highlights, combining deep accuracy with the threat to scramble can lead to big plays. Especially with guys like north, Malone, Pearson, and Williams.

High ceiling, low floor.

He is a dynamic playmaker that makes you drool just thinking about him keeping coverages honest with his ability to scramble or throw over them, but that is all reliant on if he can develop. This guy will either be huge or will never be heard from, he won't be an average quarterback.

Eh, the world doesn't break down that way. People may *see* him as either a stud or a dud when all is said and done, but those perceptions are clouded by expectations and the difficulty of evaluating players. Let's say he ends up being a tremendous running threat and does a fine job running the offense, but never becomes more than a 55% passer, and throws for around 15 touchdowns with 10 interceptions. That would be, on the whole, an average - above average players.

Isn't 7 on 7 a good time for him to be developing his passing skills. It's not like these games really mean anything. I think his coaches are doing him a injustice by making him play wr instead of using these practices to improve his passing game to go along with scrambling

I would think 7 on 7's would be a great developmental tool for him as a passer, but the coach obviously thinks him at WR gives the team a better chance to win. Idk anything about his 7 on 7 coach, maybe he is paid bonuses if the teams win championships, i'm not sure how that all works.

I won't worry about Gibson's qb skills til after the high school season. I've always thought worrying about a kid for a 7 on 7 was like worrying about a bball prospect because of 3 on 3 or a game of knockout.

Pads on > pads off.

Well I guess I can help turn the thread back even though I'm usually an enabler for off topicness.

I think TG has a chance to be special, but there is also a chance for him to be a huge let down. He is a high ceiling, low floor type of guy. I would be lying if I didn't say that I was extremely worried with how he was moved to WR at that one camp because of how poor a QB performance he had.

Biggest boom or bust prospect this year IMO. His potential is through the roof.

I don't think his motion on tape is nearly as bad as most people make it out to be. It's clear that he's an exceptional athlete playing quarterback instead of the other way around, so with him its just a case of hammering in some fundamentals and working on the mental part of the game.

Ah, the ole I bring nothing to the table other than regurgitated sheep insults. Truth is I'm not slurping on another poster's opinion. I'm making my own. So it would seem to me if anyone is being baaaaaaddd at forming their own opinion, it's the long haired hippie in the mirror staring back at you.
It seems I've struck a nerve....

Look man, I don't think it's that far fetched to think that the 01' Vols could've won that NC, but it's pretty unlikely. Miami had Pro bowlers all over that roster. TN had a great team that year but if you can't put LSU away I have a hard time buying the idea that they could've beaten Miami. All my opinion.

ETA: It's not about forming your own opinion or anything, I'm just calling it like I see it.

Tee Martin had very average stats. In the end would his stats really matter if he has the talent to lead our team to some 9-10 win seasons?

Totally agree. Have him work with a QB guru like Dobbs did. His mechanics can be taught and improved upon. If his passing were to reach the same level of his athleticism, look out.

His passes look good. The coach has him throwing screens and bombs. He can only do what's in the gameplan.

Actually the QB usually has several options/reads on any given play. He could throw the screen, the out route, the post, or the fade, etc. a good QB can usually decide where the best place to throw the ball is. It's hard for a coach to do that from the sideline. I have never felt Gibson was a very good passing QB. He will have ALOT of work to do to play QB at a high level in college.

A screen is a called play. It is not an "option/read" in pass play.

We could have played with them. No one knows who would have won. We had NFL players all over the field as well. Miami was not invincible by any means. Virginia Tech played them better than that Nebraska team that had no business being in the title game. Would have been a great matchup for sure.
