A day of Decommits

Obviously some players don't want to play for a white coach. I guess it is what it is. Some brought up racism in regards to CCM, but actually the reverse was true. Just look at the makeup of last year's team. Very John "Georgetown" Thompsonish. I don't care what color the coach or players are, but apparently some coaches and players do.

If we had hard working players like chaminade or indiana state or hickory high school we wouldn't be in this position instead of hiring coaching that hires gang members

Everyone of these guys will end up at a major program. I heard cofer already has a dozen offers from michiagin, oklahoma, etc. What do you people not understand about the public perception that Counzo was run off because he's black. and were all a bunch of racists do you not understand? You really don't think that won't kill us in recruiting?

What do you mean by "you people"?

Ruth Chris' taste on a Golden Corral budget, seriously dude.

So, we're not able to compete against Auburn, Arkansas and VA Tech for a Georgia player.

Shane Henry, 6-foot-8, Georgia Perimeter (Ga.): Henry has had a number of schools mentioned with him, and it's unclear if there is a favorite. He visited Auburn and also has an offer from Virginia Tech. Arkansas was named as a contender earlier this month.

We can go from CDT's perspective..."I've got more room for players that fit my style. So, I've got that going for me, which is nice"

Cofer gone... official. AND, officially we are screwed. No way Tyndall can rebound from this. Our roster will look like a church league next season. Black Curtains.

Reading this makes me want to call my broker at 7am and get loaded up on pharmaceutical stocks. You weren't already looking at hotels for next years Final 4 site anyway were you? None of these guys (possibly Austin?) were going to produce much next year anyway.

Had CCM stayed, these guys had stayed, and we kept the 6'11" kid, we were still gong to be bouncing off the .500 mark IMO.

I promise. We'll make it.

The lost meaning of the old saying, "Don't swap horses in mid-stream" is that you really can't. You have to go back to where you started, change horses, and start over fording the stream.

Too many fans think a program can just swap coaches and pick up where it left off. It don't work that way. Unless your program is at rock bottom, you always lose... you lose players, recruits (several years' worth--because the assistants you no longer have had been building relationships with them & their parents for years!), and good PR.

Remember, every news story about Tennessee basketball from now 'til next March will contain different ways of questioning the new coach.

Tomorrow: Can he find new players? Can he recruit to a school with this recent baggage? How many JUCOs can he sign without creating more problems down the road?

When practice starts, the questions will be about whether his players respond to him, trust him, like the system. How about season ticket sales? When the season finally starts, every loss will provoke new questions. Enough talent? Correct strategy for the players he has? Courtside savvy? Tactical errors?

We didn't change horses in mid-stream. We backtracked 1-3 years in order to start over. That's just the way it works.

Buzz, is that you?
