Couldn't agree more with Coach Pearl

I got a feeling that if UT were to get back Pearl and add him to Butch and all the hype he has created... We could see big things at UT... Greatness

Maybe someone should start a petition to bring back the last chancellor, maybe Cheek would get butt hurt like Martin and find a new job!

Then we could get Bruce back!

Ah - now $5,000 - that's some money. here's what i'd want for $5,000:

1) Long-term contract with a large buy-out - I dont want my big jew running off to some other team after a few champs. 10 years minimum - $10,000,000 buyout

2) BBQs - let's talk about them since they are the elephant in the room. No more. NO MORE BBQS. NO MORE BBQS without plenty of BEER FOR EVERYONE! Why wasn't I invited, I'm upset about this.

3) If you are going to overtext the recruits, let's at least do it in class and make sure each recruit has the latest smart phone.

4) Send Steven Pearl somewhere else, he needs some time away from daddy for a few years.

I'm not greedy, I'd take a 3 year deal. IMO once he was back to where he wanted to be, contract extensions would go smoothly as needed.

Knoxville is not the most diverse city to live in. If CCM and his family weren't happy he did what was best. Can't blame him.

Must be hard to be a Vol for life and the coach at Auburn at the same time. That's kind of like how Johhny Damon was a Redsock for life...until he started playing for the Yankees.
I was just starting to get over Johnny D leaving, and then they steal Ellsbury. I hate the Yankees.

This is very true. Although, I don't know that a generalization like this even deserves to be legitimized.

I agree with this although the fact that it is out there from a major source in college news automatically legitimizes the claims in too many people's minds.

I've read several Martin interviews about why he left U.T. and none of them mentioned racism. Why should he hold another press conference when he has already answered the question about why he left. His previous interview should provide enough ammunition to refute the racism claim.

Doesn't need to do a press conference but take 5 minutes in the one of what is likely many interviews in his new position to address it.

Pearl managed to find some time to comment in the Vols favor apparently.

NO, that is not a good comparison. Pearl screwed up his dream job--and was fired. Damon voluntarily left for more money--and probably felt obligated to take the $$$ because of the CBA between the players and MLB...

It's OBVIOUS that BRUCE is still in love with Tennessee--and I for one (and you may call me naive) still believe that he would NOT have taken the AUBURN job unless he was informed by folks in the AD at UT that he would not be invited back to be UT's coach of the basketball Vols....

You may always color me as one who would ALWAYS welcome Bruce back as coach....I thought that we made the wrong decision to fire him, too! The entire saga was woefully mishandled by Hamilton......

Cuonzo did have an uphill battle for sure. It's regrettable and unfortunate that some idiots poured out their disappointment and insults on his wife (no one should put up with that!!!).

However, his teams did underachieve. And now that Pearl's recruits are gone--he bails. It's understandable that he bails with all the insults and things hurled at him, but he still hasn't proven that he is worthy of a 2 or 3 million dollar/year coaching contract.

We will see how well he does at Cal...and I do wish him well, but do color me as one of those BBB folks forevermore. GO VOLS! :salute:

Hilarious: Out in the garage, Michael McDonald is blaring on the radio - his version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough..." .. Instead of Ashford & Simpson or Marvin Gaye, all I could see was Bruce Pearl, shirtless and painted Orange singing his heart out to Tennessee. -no doubt that vision was brought on by the quote at the beginning of this thread.

As much as I would've like to see him find redemption here at Tennessee, I do hope he is able to be of one mind and heart at his new home. - because in truth, we are all better off going "Cortez" on this and burning the ships. There is no going back.

Would you ever tell your boss you were looking for another job before you had an offer? What if he went and replaced you and then you found out you didn't get the other job?

I told my bosses before my current job and they appreciated it. They supported the process it took for me to get where I wanted and knew i was giving them 100% until that day came. two years later they had people ready to fill my spot when I left. Most mature people understand everyone wants to better themselves. it shows a lack of character on Zo's part imo!.

i would sign as much as i could! :hi:

I can write a check for $2000 right now.

It would probably be pretty shocking what a fan base could come up with financially if they knew the guys making the decisions(Hart and company) would do with the money what the fans wanted.

Knowing our luck Vol fans collect 4.5 million dollars and Cheek forces Hart to use it on new microscopes.

From Bleacher Report:

"I wasn't surprised. I wasn't," Pearl told Athlon Sports this week. "Cuonzo didn't seem to be happy there. I know they talked about the fact that he had to overcome following me, and I understand that we had success, but they still had 18,000 people come to every single game. Overcome that or not, they got great support in Knoxville, great facilities, great university. The embracing needs to work both ways, so I'm happy for coach Martin."

"He maintained a level of success that we worked really hard to create," Pearl told Athlon. "I'm grateful to coach Martin as a former Tennessee head basketball coach, and a Vol for life, I'm grateful for the job he did because he kept it going. I wish him nothing but success at Cal, and if he wasn't happy there and he didn't feel appreciated there, then I'm glad he's not there because I want somebody there that wants to be there. So I appreciate the job he did and I'm happy for him and his family that they got a chance to move on."

He can shove his VFL card up where the sins doesn't shine...we wouldn't be in a coaching search if he hadn't tried to cover up his f up.
