I think that SI article really has some people scared. I hope we aren't one of them.

We don't know that Hart hasn't talked with him. Maybe Hart wants to talk to more than just Howland.

I hope we don't let this guy go and hire a third tier guy. If we don't hire him, I don't think it will be because of money. I think it will be because of fear.

That SI article is way overblown from what I read. Sounded to me like he lost control of a team filled with 5* who were treated like celebrities in LA.

Butch was coaching at Cincy--a sizeable school with a respectable athletic program. Big difference between Cincy and schools like Nooga and others.

Agree with most, but not sure what you're getting at on tubby. Best I understand they didn't think he was worth the 2.5 they were paying him.
He didn't leave. they fired him.
Pitino Jr then took Tubby's NCAA team to the NIT.
Believe I'd quit TN BB if we hired Jr.

I didn't mean how he left Minnesota, but like how he left the actual school, you know cause he was fired. Guess I worded that pretty crappy lol

And I'm with you on Pitino Jr, I don't want him.

The wait is killing me, and I appreciate your efforts. However, we really just won't have a clue until the announcement is made.

I really, really want a good coach!

Pretty amazing that an athletic department with a $100 million budget can only afford to spend $2 million on a basketball coach.

Nice write up BTO!! Thanks for good info!! Question though. Lot of people talk about money, but how can that be when we have more than most going to games. We should generate enough to pay a coach that can win. I know about pay outs and what not, but with football on rise, why not make basketball a player as well?? Thanks for your thoughts!!

Cronin and Miller would be home runs for us at 1.8 million. White would be third on my list, and after that we are going down hill fast. Cronin and Miller are similar to the Butch Jones hire in that they both have won, but they haven't had to deal with such a large fan base like ours along with the expectations that come with it.

We can afford more, but I don't blame them for not dumping top 15 money on anyone who hasn't produced top 15 results. If you win here, you get plenty of pay raises. Bruce was at 2.3 million 4 years ago.

We've spent 36 million dollars on a practice facility and an arena renovation in the last 7 years. We were paying Coach Pearl a top 20 in the nation salary 4 years ago.

I don't understand why people continually throw this out there when it's untrue.

Really think White would be a great fit.
Crowd pleasing offensive style and runs a clean program.
More I read about him, the better I like.
Also, think the kids would like him and talent onboard could play his offense.

Yeah, I think White is a very solid option. That's why I'm positive we will go a different direction lol Somehow we'll find a name that isn't even on any list right now and I'm sure his winning% will be about 50-60% like Zo's

It won't be because of money as I believe he can be had for very cheap, but I think there's more going on than we know. I have a feeling the NCAA is likely black listing him behind the doors to ADs, otherwise you would've seen someone take a shot.

Then again Missouri may come out and hire him in 2 days, who knows. If that happens and we end up with White I will lose all faith in Hart.
