UT and other SEC Schools and Fans Racists?

The fans didn't hire these Black coaches y'all are using to prove the SEC isn't racist. There are plenty of racist fans.

Calling Martin things like "Kwanzo". That is not his name.

Saying he mumbles and you can't understand him.

Saying he is a bad representative off court when he did better than Pearl off court.

When Strong was gonna be hired talked about how he sounds . Said he should only be a coordinator here.

Calling Shaka Smart Shaka Zulu.

All of these have racial implications.

Meanwhile the Big 10 fields all white basketball teams and no one says a word.

Maybe because big 10 states were fighting against slavery during the civil war? I'm not saying that's right but they don't have the same burden of proof when it comes to anything slavery related as southern states.

I don't follow this.

I am not trying to be a smart a$$. I just don't get that logic.

Arguably, he wasn't even one of the top 4 players on his team his senior year. He was a fringe starter. Look at his stats. He was no better than 4th on the team in every major category, save assists. And he's considered one of the top 20 OF ALL TIME? Over Tony Harris? Over Vincent Yarbrough? Over countless guys who actually led their teams in most major statistical categories? Why? What possible reason would he be singled out even over players on his own team, like Jajuan Smith, who achieved more?

Pat Forde has been busy fighting a campaign to impugn the reputation and name of the University of Tennessee for Cuonzo Martin leaving Tennessee. Now Frank Haith leaves Missouri for a lesser job and now Forde decided to paint with broader brush and implies that the SEC schools and their fans are racists.

Is Forde accurate?

Or is Forde just another media member with an agenda to push?

Forde is a fool.

Sensationalism at its best........

Forde has an agenda that fits within his peer group. In writing this column he will be slapped on the back and given several "atta boys" from writers from NY, Philly, Chicago, and LA. Racism claims and sensationalist stories sells papers and facilitates the media's agenda.

Wasn't Tennessee one of the first southern schools to recruit African American players and hire African American coaches? I seem to remember hearing a lot about this on the 30 for 30 with Condredge Holloway.

I was a freshman and I believe Lester McClain WR was the first black to play in the SEC and he played at my alma mater Tennessee.

The kid played with heart and was one of the toughest defenders in college basketball.

My failure to understand the logic in the quote was, how is this in any way associated with racism?

Charlie Strong had his chance and C. Martin wasn't forced out.

Just because fans want more wins doesn't make them racist does it? Sounds like the other conferences are trying to beat down the all mighty SEC.

If these are the kinds of things you call racist, then you really don't want to hear what Jesse Jackson has to say about Jews.

Do you really think that white southerners are going to be held to the same standard as Jackson? Not saying it's right, but we aren't talking about right and wrong, we are talking about manipulation and perception.

i remember when the rooney rule came about in the nfl.

someone, don't know who (but he was black), said if we demand jobs and get jobs we have to deal with everything that comes along with it. white coaches get fired all the time and don't necessarily deserve it. that's going to happen to us and we are going to have to accept that.

so, in that vain, this is frustrating to me....because, i am sorry.....the four worst coaching jobs i saw in the sec throughout the season (and their tenure) were from black coaches.

does that make me a racist?

personnally, i think a good head coach gets arkansas, missouri, and lsu to the tourney.

we know what tennessee eventually achieved, but they should have been a ranked basketball team all season long. they underperformed and redeemed themselves by beating some chumps in the ncaa tournament.

and don't forget the awesome job anthony grant (who i have been cheering for because of obvious reasons) has done at alabama.

auburn's coach was fired....with cause as they never got any better.

am i supposed to ignore all this because these guys are black or am i supposed to look at what i see and make an honest judgment?

Are there people in and around Knoxville who are racist? Most certainly. Just like most other areas of the United States. It is foolish to think those same people have a say in anything University related or those who do matter are racist themselves.

You also don't have to be white to be racist. Shocking, I know.

Only about half of your examples are even reasonable. Any who is liking your posts? Cuonzo does mumble when he talks. How is that even remotely racist? And you say Counzo was better than Pearl off the court? Seriously? You know why the term "race card" has such negative implications? Because it gets overplayed, like in this post. Also, using a few scattered quotes from 0.2% of mouthbreathers on here or any other site doesn't make UT or the SEC racist as a whole if that's what you're getting at.
