Yeah, did Forde forget about this article from two years ago? SEC's pretty far ahead of the curve on this item.
NY Times on minority basketball coaches
Racism certainly exists here (see: Dane Bradshaw being voted one of the top 20 UT basketball players of all time), but when you try to cry "racism!" in regards to Cuonzo Martin's treatment here, I think you risk making a mockery of yourself and the term. Anybody, black/white/purple, was going to struggle here if they followed up the Bruce Pearl era with 3 straight NIT appearances (where we were headed during the petition and bulk of criticism) and with lackluster recruiting classes coming in.
Wondered when someone would play the race card!
Obvious questions that Forde will not ask:
1. Who "FIRED" Kawanzo??
2. What "Racist School" would hire a black coach in the first place??
:banghead2::banghead2:
.
Pat Forde has been busy fighting a campaign to impugn the reputation and name of the University of Tennessee for Cuonzo Martin leaving Tennessee. Now Frank Haith leaves Missouri for a lesser job and now Forde decided to paint with broader brush and implies that the SEC schools and their fans are racists.
Is Forde accurate?
Or is Forde just another media member with an agenda to push?

Yet....
We hired Cuonzo Martin.
Tried to hire Charlie Strong
Had an espn special about Condrere Holloway
Have fans demanding we target Shaka Smart
Have tons of former players who can't wait to move back to knoxville. Tons.
This is so dumb.
