'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

1,000 carries before college is a lot, my friend.

I'm not saying it is not, but realistically it is not going to affect him much in college. He is young, strong, and it's not like it is 1000 carries vs SEC LBs, DLs, et al. Will it affect him further down the road? Post college? Maybe, maybe not. I don't know his nutrition, or joints like user Burger. Plus, he won't be seeing a massive workload in college for at least his first 2 seasons.

Lots of big D-1 running backs see massive workloads in high school. The majority do, in fact. If this kid has on average a couple hundred more career carries than the next Johnny Bigtime Prospect... Not a big deal. This is all JMO of course.

I'm happy we have him; that was just a reason I think other schools might not offer.

He's coming into a good situation at UT, because there will be other capable backs sharing the workload with him. He's definitely got the look of a redzone type back. Some of his highlights from the redzone are really impressive.

Nobody said anything about Derrick Henry when he averaged 35-40 carries a game.... And that started when he was in 8th grade I believe. That's how he was able to beat Emmitt Smith's national rushing record.

This kid will be fine. He's built to take on punishment, but from the looks of it, he's the one dishing it out.

Good point. He also went into a desireable situation at Bama like Reid will be entering. (Although, not AS much talent in our stable)

Yep, I like the pickup a lot. He will definitely soften up opposing defenses. He is a beast, also it is a good high school to get into as well.

He will have his work cut uo for him, if he wants to be a featured back in his tenure at UT. Which is how it should be, which is also why I'm not concerned with his carries.

Man it's awesome to see us inching towards a really good situation at the RB position though. For a while it felt like every year we were getting farther and farther away from that.

I'm not by means an expert, but I really like to read. It's always a worthy subject. It was inspired by the fact I watched a show on 600 pounders. The fact they exist says a lot about the times. I have all kinds of wacky interests from nutrition to economics.

I love the fact Rocky can carry huge loads of carries, bu I'm concerned a little about it.

I respect you for teaching your children proper nutrition. You're absolutely correct, but there is a massive amount of people that just eat junk. It's way more than when you grew up. You should see the average diet in the ghetto.

From the 33 signed last year, how many came from the ghetto? Most appeared to have a supportive family along on the recruiting trips. Hurd and several of the middle TN guys were training outside of their HS at the same facility - think there was probably nutrition advise there? Don't you think even the coaches at their schools talked about good nutrition?

As competitive as athletics have become, I have a hard time envisioning these top flight athletes attending rivals camps, summer college camps, training at specialty athletic training facilities are the ones laying on the couch cramming junk food. Maybe I'm completely wet?

You should be right 100% of the time. We recruited high character kids, so they care more about how they take care of themselves physically and mentally. I've seen idiot kids eat a crap ton of bad food before practice.

You're not completely wet. We're just having a great conversation. We're both under the same waterfall.

Your post is exactly why I'm giddy about the type of men Butch recruits. We won't see the bad mentality as much. If kids like James didn't do the lifting, why would they give two craps about the nutrition plan?

does rocky play defense too? if not many athletes will receive the same or more punishment from playing both sides. Your body can handle it when youre young

Its more punishing to run the ball 400 times than play 200 snaps at WR and 200 snaps at DB. The knees are a weakness in BA ( Black Americans, all yall ain't African, you're better. Also a white immigrant from south Africa is an African American, Mindblown!). You know that when you get in fights.

An RB playing both ways is insanely risky. Jalen Hurd shows why.

I believe Marlin Lane would of been starting if it wasn't for his knee injury. He'd be faster.

I didn't claim that Rb was equivalent to wr, just that a Rb playing 200 snaps and also logging 200 snaps at lb would receive the same approximate punishment as Rb whose coach rode him hard

It's very close, but the guy carrying it 400 times got hit in the knees more. Linebackers rarely get hit like RBs because they're giving out the damage more times than not.

Btw, I met a girl in HS that was from south Africa who was white. She actually got to put African on her college application. Funny!

Actually you get the hell knocked out of you a lot on defense

You do, but imagine if you take a hit from AJ and Curt at the same time opposed to getting ran over by Hurd. What do you think hurts more?

Antone Davis and Charles McRae are coming at you on a toss sweep, I'd much rather hit curt and aj. I can forgive you if you've forgotten what kind of punishment a good offense can dish out.

We could add Henderson and Haynesworth on top of AJ and Curt. We've seen dogpiles on RB, and good swarm is usually that. I hope we don't see McRae, Davis, and Witten block the same guy.

I wouldn't want to be on the end of either. I've had the McRae, Davis hit happen to me before. I know how that feels. I also know how it feels to get hit by four guys at the same time. Friggin hurts man.

This will get more interesting as this convo continues.

When we visited*Rocky Reid, a strong running back out of Concord he came with plenty of orange. He was decked out in Tennessee gear and the Volunteer commit is strong.

So Henderson, AJ, Curt, C McRae, Antone Davis and Jason Witten are playing hs ball in NC? White African Americans? Knees are a weakness in black Americans? Wth did I just read? Smdh at all the nonsense. Rocky Reid could carry the ball every down in hs and be just fine.
