Dave Hart Blames Fans

I'll add that if his family was, indeed, harassed, then that's an idiot faction of the fan base. Unfortunately, that crap can happen anywhere. People that will stoop to that level should just stop watching sports and move into a cave somewhere in Alaska.

yet it seems to happen at UT too often (Sanders, Crompton, Kiffin, etc). Eventually it makes the entire fanbase look pretty ridiculous

I agree, but I bet it happens at a lot of big programs. "You know a few bad apples spoil the whole (dang) bunch."

Well lets be honest here Mr. Dave Hart....if its the "fans" than why not offer some sort of public confidence when this petition and harassment is going down? Why offer him a two year extension if he's so amazing to you? I don't buy that crap because Hart is secretly glad Pearl is off the market and Cuonzo is gone so he can hire his guy.

You apparently misread my post. I was referring to idiots that would harass or threaten a man's family. Thanks for the tirade though.

I'm really feelin good about never signing that stupid petition. Not that I wouldn't have taken Bruce back had the opportunity arisen.

f the fans can talk a coach into leaving, Nick Saban must never read twitter. Three national championships in four seasons wasn’t enough to save him from the fans’ ire after he bumbled away an opportunity to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl last November.

If the fans can talk a coach into leaving, John Calipari must never read the Rupp Rafters message board. They want him fired after every close loss. Heck, they want him fired after every single-digit win.

Cal helped host Mike and Mike this morning. He said that he reads nothing on social media. He said that he uses Twitter to send out information or prayers or positive vibes. But he says he does not read anything else. He said that it is not worth it.

It just depends on who the coach and family are. Coaches who have been with big programs understand it. Kiffin was at USC and Oakland and could handle it. Martin and family were at Missouri State and probably had never been on that situation. Really sad if the family was threatened. Martin is a good man. Maybe not the best coach, but it is a job and no one should ever be threatened.

Agree 110%. The extra 10% is that I don't think even high-profile coaches in big markets should have to deal with that crap.

i know. you apparently misread my post. you are trashing alaska because you think everyone there lives in a cave and has no access to the internet. you are bashing the "rednecks" who enjoy the wilderness and outdoors and not being in cities so full you have to raise buildings to comical levels. its not a tirade, youre a bigot against rural folk. im glad your parents threw in the 35k out of state tuition in tennessee for your communications degree, but after your b.s., we'd like it if you didnt come back

Well if we truly scared him away - kudos to the fans!!

Let's be honest - this is a good fan base. We just had #2 spring game attendance after how many losing seasons?!?!?!

36k signing a petition is pretty badass too IMO - think about if we coulda done that to Dooley a year earlier!

That figure is not even 5% of our total fan base. Basically it appears the vocal 3% of our fans backed into exactly what they wanted, Cuonzo gone. I bet we end up with another 1.5 million dollar coach.

Actually, I think Alaska is a beautiful state. I was trying to find a remote location for a cave-dwelling for morons willing to threaten someone's family to spend the rest of their days. Insert "Afghanistan" or "Antarctica" if it helps.

Also, I practice in a rural area, love spending time in the outdoors away from the crowds, hope to visit Alaska one day, and received my education in-state at UT schools (with full undergraduate academic scholarship). As I remember, my tuition was $900/semester for undergrad and around $10k/yr for med school. After Residency, I came back to TN to practice through an underserved areas program.

He is gone and we aren't paying buyout. Hart should be thanking everyone he can,

Okay, well at least think about it from another's perspective. its offensive to say what you said. its like me saying why dont you go watch baseball and dive underground in one of the five sewers of new york city. you are bigoted against people who live in rural areas regardless if you like playing there or not

That literally makes no sense.

I think I explained myself clearly. I also provided clear examples that contradict basically all of your ridiculous assumptions. Take a breather.

UT is a football school. Who gives a rats ass over an under achieving basketball coach? Glad he's gone. Bring on a winner that the players will play a whole year for. Not until a petition is brought out on.

FYI: While I like to "play" outdoors, I spend most of my time providing medical care for children in rural East Tennessee. I hope that doesn't interfere with your so eloquently-spoken point.

Very disappointed in CCM leaving, but none of us know what he endured while at the helm of the coaching reigns at UT. I do know he was smiling like he just got out of Hell at that CAL press conference. Best of luck Coach Martin.

If a coach sucks b*lls for the majority of 2 seasons then they are probably gonna get some heat. I'm sure he did the best he knew to do. I don't doubt a bit that he felt like he just escaped hell on Earth though. We are the most self-entitled(for no rational reason), unreasonable , idiotic fan base in college sports. Bammer may be a close second...but we're undisputed champs for now.
