Dave Hart Blames Fans

I never said I was pissed off so please don't put words in my mouth! Sure every fan base has "nuts" and the "nuts" should be dealt with. My point is if you can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen! When your team doesn't play up to their potential, as they did most of the year then ANY FAN BASE is going to criticize so get over yourself!
:loco:

A petition to fire the coach is criticism now? Yet again, criticism is one thing, and what many of this fanbase did is another.

dude, ive tried. there is no point. either this kid is straight trolling or just a bit beyond comprehension.

"In one man's opinion, I don't think Cuonzo's decision was driven by dollars or was driven by necessarily number of years. I don't know. It was a tough year. I don't want to speak for Cuonzo. It was a tough year for Cuonzo and Roberta. There were a lot of distractions, you know what they were, you reported on them. Pretty tough for those young men and I talked to them and they have unsolicited, as the end of the year was progressing, made comments about how tough that was. It was a tough situation."

I agree. So do the players. So does the national media.

Funny, because two weeks ago, I could of sworn he released a statement praising the fans and saying this is where he wants to be. Were there some petitions in the past two weeks that I'm unaware of?

Actually, if we're being technical, the petition wasn't to fire anyone. It was to hire a guy named Bruce Pearl. You know, the highly qualified proven unemployed coach that lived down the street until Auburn picked him up?

How did the media feel about that hire? I seem to recall a lot of praise.

This is way more one the boosters than the fans. You expect the fans to be fickle, but to pull the planes so the coach can't recruit is on another level!!! Q

Nutshelled it in one sentence.

It is now Dave Hart's baby, the one he has worked two years to conceive.

I don't like the optics of it: we lost a coach who took us to the Sweet 16 to a weaker basketball program.

But if he goes through the process and ends up with a Leonard Hamilton-type providing a decade or more of success and stability for Tennessee basketball, then I would be more than willing to look past UTAD once again blaming the fans for decisions made at the athletic department level.

Seems to me that if Hart makes a good hire, he should thank fans, not blame them. We might have just saved the AD a bunch of money.

So what, a petition was signed by 30,000 people at a time when the coach went to two NIT tournaments, lost early, and had a very talented team that, at that time, looked NIT bound again. So what! Again, IF Martin left because of that then I say so so long and good riddance! Some people need to wear their "big boy pants" if they can't take adversity! Sorry but that is life in the sports world! Tennessee fans have no lock on behavior like this!
I say again :loco:!

Coach martin was paid well. Take the heat or get out of the kitchen. Guess he could not take the heat. He had a job to do and did not do it good enough for his bosses. The fans who pay the bills.

How embarrassing is Mr. Hart. Cuonzo leads the Vols to the sweet 16 and he gets a 2 year offer with a 500K raise making him the 9th highest paid coach in the SEC. WOW. Terrible Disrespect in that offer and Coach Martin SHOULD leave, but we should FIRE HART TOO -- he's STUPID to make such a lowball offer, he obviously wanted Coach to leave.

Tough life rolling around in a Benz, eating at Morton's and living in a million dollar house. Oh, not to mention his monthly paycheck topped $112,000...

Tough rough life he had

Gary Parish talks about this all of the time. People think that just because you make money then you must be happy. Human nature is that people want to be praised for their job and not told that they aren't doing their job. Do you think highly driven people enjoy losing but making money? No. This concept is just foreign to me and frankly it is dumb.

So, I signed the petition (as my wife says, "there's a Bruce Pearl petition out, I'm going to put our names on it") and felt he had @ .001 chance of coming back. I believe it was after another 2 hours of sitting through the same miserable basketball I had been watching for the past 2.5 years. That's the thought process that went behind it for me.
That said:
-it helped drive the team to their best play when they couldn't find their own reasons to play well and almost waited too late
-and it helped both parties move on from a bad relationship with no immediate or long term future.

My sig and others are solely responsible for the sweet 16 run, and the new upcoming and exciting coach we will get now instead of waiting 2-3 years to do it.
Really though, no thanks needed. This is no time to gloat. People that don't know basketball are upset and we need to let them mourn.
This^ is the post of the year!

I think you need to go back and check your facts. With the raise, he would have been number 4 in the SEC and one of the top 30 in ALL OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL, not a bad offer!

+1. That's pretty much my thoughts. Thanks for saving me the time.

Read the first two words of my post again Einstein.

reread my post again. Nothing changes. Your assertion to his bad info is typical little girl hs **** that you clowns pull all the time.

Most people form opinions based on the games the last 3 years. You assert fans would be happy the man's wife was harassed. Gtfo with that bull****.

f the fans can talk a coach into leaving, Nick Saban must never read twitter. Three national championships in four seasons wasn’t enough to save him from the fans’ ire after he bumbled away an opportunity to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl last November.

If the fans can talk a coach into leaving, John Calipari must never read the Rupp Rafters message board. They want him fired after every close loss. Heck, they want him fired after every single-digit win.

Try the FACTS! Go look it up if you know how!

its a joke. the implication (read: punch line) is that it would be a bad idea to give the extension.raise. get it???

and how are you going to call me out for assuming you were a male, and then post something like this in response to a joke. come on baby, you got to step up your game

I'll add that if his family was, indeed, harassed, then that's an idiot faction of the fan base. Unfortunately, that crap can happen anywhere. People that will stoop to that level should just stop watching sports and move into a cave somewhere in Alaska.

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that people continue to pay for tickets to games when they are fully aware that the teams likely won't perform at a top tier level, but still complain when they don't.

It's like wiping your butt with that TP that is like sand paper and then complaining that it isn't Charmin. You know it isn't going to be what you wanted, but you still purchase it!

Not trying to compare these teams to butt wiping, but just using an analogy that hopefully brings a little humor to the forum.

That comparison isnt anywhere near accurate! I'm a VFL, so regardless of how my Vols do, I will never buy anything from a rival school. In other words, I'm committed to UT through the ups & downs!
